I thought this idea had been wisely scrapped...

Hmm, a part of me wants it to come out but the other doesn't because I like the original quartet. I've been looking for a dvd set or something of them but no avail.
But then again, we get our own "stig". It'd be pretty cool to see both stigs race against each other.

2001 Ford F-250 Platinum Edition w/ a few go-fast goodies
We won't get presenters, we'll get "hosts," complete with all the pomposity and machismo so common with American broadcasts.
I hope UK Stig trounces all the imitators.

What are they going to test?

Maybe Z06 vs. NSX?![]()
We don't have the car selections like they do in Europe.

2008 Honda S2000 CR Berlina Black #160
Clarkson makes that show. A US version just won't be the same. There is no "Clarkson" in the USA.
However, what if they got Jay Leno! Now that might be cool. He is done with the Tonight Show in 09.
clarkson is great... but hammond also gives it that BATMAN AND ROBIN combo we all so love![]()
i saw posted on another forum, that rumor has it JOHNNY KNOXVILLE is being considered as one of the host![]()

Oddly enough, I'd watch this if Leno hosted it and/or had some hand in producing. I don't think he's funny at all, but I think he'd be a good choice for something like this.
I find that a duck's opinion of me is very much influenced by whether or not I have bread.
I can be the US Clarkson, I have an accent, I can drive very well and I know stuff about cars!Hell, to make it more American, I am really good at driving in a straight line too!
In all seriousness, it's not a bad idea, US needs a good car show. We have Trucks!, Pinks and Pimp my Ride!
Yeah, we need it bad!!!!

Some say he is powered by a warp core, and he has tyre marks instead of fingerprints. All we know is, he's called the Stig.
I trade Best Motoring/Hot Vesion over Top Gear anyday, sorry guys, I just not really into the poor quality and the white knuckle driving without any timing device...
We have Iron Chief US version, why not an American Hot Version ??
I have a friend that use to work for the Letterman show in NY and told me that Letterman has had his drivers license suspended twice in CT. He proudly has one of the tickets framed and mounted on his wall in his office... 192 mph. Porsche 911 Turbo.![]()
I think Dave and Jay would make great hosts for US Top Gear.
Someone in another forum brought up Adam Carolloa as a good host for Top Gear America. For those of you who catch his radio show (or d/l his podcast) he's quite a car nut and pretty witty. He's no Clarkson, but then again I don't think it would be the same show anyway. I think he could possibly make a good host. May co-starring Jay Leno and Chip Foose too.

Dunno about you guys but I am scared as to whom might become the hosts. Being that this is NBC and this is being created by people who want money and not usually car people, we might end up with hosts like Ryan Seacrest and Carmen Electra. YIKES!![]()

If the Wright brother were alive today Wilbur would have to fire Orville to reduce costs.

Looks like I was on the right track.
I think they made an awesome choice. He as good as Clarkson if not better. I know that may sound like blaspheme to some people but he knows his cars and he's really funny. For those of you who aren't lucky enough to get him on local radio, podcast his morning show. It's intelligent and hilarious.
The only thing is he's got a very heavy European bias and hates domestic cars. Not that I don't disagree, but the Euro-spec Top Gear was American bashing enough as it is. I don't think we need to add to the bonfire.

We're screwed. This show is going to be the next Big Bag of Suck.
