NSXPO 2002

The NSXPO 2002 Planning Committee is pleased to announce that the dates
for next year's event will be November 6-10. The venue will be in the
Texas metropolis of Dallas-Fort Worth, commonly referred to as DFW.

Details remain in a mild state of flux and will be announced as they
become definitive. One thing that is confirmed are the track dates,
around which NSXPO 2002 is being planned. We unsuccessfully tried for
various weekends in October. September will still be "unpleasantly warm"
in Texas, thus why early November became the choice.

Fear not of the temperature in Texas that time of year. Average highs
are 66 °F and average lows are 43 °F. Although MJ was running around in
shorts during NSXPO 2001, (he is a little http://www.nsxprime.com/ubb/wink.gif off-center) shorts are
quite the norm right now in Texas.

Enough about the dates and the weather, what about the track stuff?

Whilst I'm sure the weather IN Texas will be great, I know that it can get pretty dicey GETTING TO Texas

Texas is very large; you can drive 900 miles across the state, east to west or north to south. There are vast differences in climate due to those large distances.

Amarillo, which is in the far north corner (the "Texas panhandle"), averages 15.5 inches of snow per year, and the average daily maximum temperature in January is 49 degrees F.

They've never had more than a flurry in Corpus Christi, which is in the far south, and the average daily maximum temperature in January is 65 degrees F.

Average snowfall in the month of November in Dallas-Fort Worth, site of NSXPO 2002, is 0.1 inches (which probably means they have a 2-inch snow about once every 20 years, and it is more likely in late November than early November).

Thanks Lud... I travel a lot, but my X is usually between NW and N-Central.

Both areas do NOT have good driving weather in the cold months, unfortunately.

I was just in Dallas and the weather is pretty good. I dont think you will have anything to worry about it.

I'd be interested in a transport out of the bay if we couldn't get a group drive together (my first preference). Should be able to get to Dallas in a couple days, and the route allows for some high speed driving....
