Default Centre speaker

I've never been able to really hear my centre speaker.
Should I be able to hear it?

Cheers

Yes, you should be able to hear it. It is a mid-range speaker with a crude high-pass filter to acually cut off the low frequencies. It was also used for the optional cell phone. When it fails it will crackle and perhaps it was disconnected by a PO. You can have the footwell amp that drives it repaired to have it function properly.

I have that same question, I have the center speaker running sounds awesome but should it be louder than the door speakers? or should they all be equal, i mean should I hear the doors over the center?

The center just provides fill, you should be able to hear it but you will have to get your ear near it.

Thanks Brian for the response.
You overhauled my l/s, r/s and footwell speakers as well as my a/c control unit a couple of years ago.
There's no crackling in the centre one, it just doesn't seem to produce any noticable sound.
Next time I run the car i'll make it a point to give it a listen.
By the way, my oem radio head died and I had a spare I installed and was wondering if it would be worth having you take a look at the bad one for repair?

Cheers

I would guess you will find the center speaker unpluged. I don't work on the head units now but if you what to send it to me for when I do I will be willing to pay the shipping.

I pulled out the wiring for the old cell phone and found a small black plastic enclosed speaker in the center panel betwen the seats attached to the cell phone wiring (I also found a huge module that all the wiring came back to, under the dash - a real rig job - I must have removed 50 feet of wire). That can't be the stereo speaker. What size is the stereo center speaker?

Is there a way to pump up the volume on the stock stereo? I find myself turning the volume knob all the way to max for FM channels and it's not that loud

Sounds like your speaker amps are failing time to get them repaired.

The volume is fine for AM channels tho. I had one of the driver side repaired already, the passenger has not failed yet.

Usually when one goes out the others follow shortly thereafter.

Ya, just waiting for the passenger side to go. With my new exhaust system, you rarely turn on the radio now.
