Default Hawaii NSX/s2000 cruise pics

What a great time we all had!!! Even though our NSX's were out numbered by the s2000's 3 to 1. We started off the day meeting at Kakaako park (near Ala Moana shopping center).

Ten minutes after we started the drive we had a brief, but hard down pour of "liquid sunshine". It lasted about 5 minutes then we were in the clear. We drove thru Waikiki and up towards Diamond Head, and continued on......

We then went to Sandy Beach (bathroom break and time to stretch the legs)..........

We figured this was a great time for a group pic......

We continued on with the "long" drive towards Windward Mall, where hunger set in and everyone set camp in the food court for the next hour ....

We never really made it to our last stop due to rain, but it didn't really matter..... we drove, we ate, we conquered rain (up to that point at least). A special "thanks" to Rick for getting the insurance thru the S2KCA, Colin, and all the 2 way radios (I can't begin to tell you how great the 2 way radio idea was, it kept us together through out most of the cruise, especially thru the traffic lights) .

I was about to say that!!!

(as a side note, 8000RPM, you and I have very similar taste in cars. I used have a 96 M3, and currently have 99 Audi and 95 NSX-T!)

How dare you get rid of the M3

The M3 is my daily driver.

We got rid of the Audi to get an E430 for the wife...

The most recent Motor Trend had Hawaii -Big Island as one of the best drives for enthusiast. The entire island in about 220 miles. Rainforest like locals to urban to some nice twisties. I am envious.

No, I would say there are at least a dozen NSX's on Oahu alone. I believe GBlue from Maui said they have about 6 or so. That is just two of the 4 main Islands. There was supposed to be a 03 Imola Orange that was just delivered, but I guess the guy wasn't ready to take his brand new NSX out We haven't gotten in touch with some of the other NSX owners from this particular drive.

Hehehe, it is kind of odd that we only had 1 red since there are a lot more reds and blacks than the other colors. There are at least 3-4 Sebring Silvers, but nobody could get a hold of the owners. Hopefully next time.

Nice pics. Thanks for posting. Beautiful scenary (I'm actually talking about the mountains as well ). What rims are on the Black NSX on the left side of the picture below? Do yo have any pictures that show the rims slightly better as well.

EDIT: Hmmm, I'm actually having a little trouble linking that picture. I'm talking about the black NSX on the left side of the first picture underneath the caption "We then went to Sandy Beach..."

Regards.

Believe it or not that car is this one you see here below. The rims are SSR GT1 in 17/18. The other two black NSX's had the stock 16/17 rims.

I shipped my car from California thru Matson for $800.00. I've gotten quotes for transporting a car from the east coast to Hawaii (door to door) around $2000.00. Don't know about the job thing but it is a little slow in Waikiki due to the war. Not to brag but driving an NSX here in Hawaii is the S**T!!!! The weather is almost the same all year around....definitely cool

Matson raised the prices this January. The new prices are these:

To Honolulu (Oahu)
$916.00

Mainland to Neighbor Islands or Neighbor Islands to Mainland $959.00

CSX is the other shipper and their prices are roughly similar; however, they are more strict and stated the car needed a 6" minimum ground clearance, so I used Matson and had absolutely no problems at all.

Hey kenji,

So far I personally have little problems with rust on any of my cars. On some of my older cars I had it did rust in unprotected bare metal areas, but for the most part as long as you wash your car regularly you have no problems. I think people who live in the snow areas with road salt have it worse. On the NSX I have no rust nor have I seen other NSX's with rust other than on the brake rotors and calipers. I haven't gone over them with a fine tooth comb, but I feel as long as you clean the car regularly you have nothing to worry about.

ChrisK,

Are you the same ChrisK from the Legend Board,.... the same Chirs as the one who sold wheels to Mike C?

If so welcome! It is nice to see Legend folks over here.

Yes it is I I've become fairly good friends with Mike C, and Ben L whome I bought my NSX from. I try to visit them whenever I'm in the area, and likewise they do the same when they are in Hawaii.

The wheels look very nice, although quite different between the two pics, because of the angle the first pic was taken at -- the rims in the first pic look like they are much thicker. That's why I didn't recognize it at first. Sweet setup Chris!! SSR makes some nice rims (of course I'm a little partial) .

Regards.
