off-topic / Chicago : F-car show @ Oak Street

There was some interest in this last year, and it seems this year, so am re-posting. I'll plan to be there with some folks; several Prime readers/posters are also planning to attend.

Steve J -- any cool customer cars this year ??

Ferraris on Oak Street 2004

100 Ferraris – including rare and vintage styles – will be on display in Chicago’s Gold Coast for Ferraris on Oak Street 2004, an event that will celebrate one of the most exotic automobiles ever created on Chicago’s most exclusive street. Owners of the cars will travel from across the country to compete for several prizes.

Ferraris On Oak Street 2004 is on Sunday, June 6 on Oak Street between Rush Street and Michigan Avenue. 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Admission is free.

The Players Run will be in Chicago at the same time, but they won't tell us what we will be doing.
Chances are it is to go to this event.
I know there are a least 17 Ferraris going with us, there are 2 F40's and one of them is a F40LM. (Rollands car)
200 exotic cars in one place, what are the odds of that ever happening again.

Our day plan.
Sunday June 6th
Police Escort 10:00am
Peninsula Hotel between 3:30 and 4:30pm
The Peninsula Chicago
108 East Superior Street at North Michigan Avenue Chicago, IL 60611
Dinner and Cruise on The Odyssey Yacht
Location on Navy Pier
401 E. Illinois Street, Suite 425
Chicago, IL 60611
VIP Party Proceeding TBA

Brian, maybe I will motor up to Chicago Sunday....
That sounds like a nice show... even though we will have the European car show here, doesn't compare to what will be in Chicago though..

cool....

The Players Run cars will be a fun addition, and a "surprise" detour into the Oak Street show is probably a likely event.

Last year's show had all the "rare" modern F cars (288, F40, F50, Enzo) represented, along with several vintage models, a good assortment of V8 cars, and several race cars, including a recent F1 car complete with Indy pit gals

The Peninsula Hotel is only a few blocks south of Oak Street.

This used to be an 8-minute walk for me
But it was a fun visit anyways.
Ran into Darrin K (of Pauly Acura) and his wife, plus GinaK and Steve.

In addition to the exhibit cars, which included several vintage coupes and spyders, a red Enzo and F40, and silver F50, and several other nice examples. Nearby curb parking was cool too, with several Lambos (the yellow Gallardo/Murcielago pair that hang out by the carwash on Halsted south of Grand), a pair of Bentley coupes, and a number of other exotica.

Will post some pix later, once my long-awaited ( ) DSL line comes up.

I was driving home from Chicago today and saw one of the packs of cars from the Players Run at a BP station and rest stop off of the 80/90 toll road near Elkhart, Indiana. There were a bunch of Ferrari 360's, an F40, a pair of Murcielago's, a Diablo, and some other pretty sweet cars all parked there along with Brian (prova4re) and an NSX. Pretty sweet collection of cars...oh, and some of the trophy wives/girlfriends were catching attention as well.

Hey, Manuel, I thought the exhibit was fun, but I thought there would be more cars there...... the fire department was a nice touch, eh?

I thought this forum was supposed to be for Midwestern topics with NSX content, not a guide to every Ferrari show around. What's next, a discussion of the race for U.S. Senate?

At the top of the page it says:

NSX Prime > NSX Prime Regional Message Forums (limited region-related off-topic OK) > Midwest US Region > off-topic / Chicago : F-car show @ Oak Street

I guess that means "limited region-related off-topic [is] OK"

If it makes you feel better, I took my NSX to Chicago to look at the Ferraris.

So if I start a topic that says:

NSX Prime > NSX Prime Regional Message Forums (limited region-related off-topic OK) > Midwest US Region > off-topic / Maddux Wins 294th

then that's appropriate for this forum? I don't think so.

There are Ferrari forums out there if anyone's looking for Ferrari meets. (And I don't think they would like it if we posted a notice of every NSX gathering on them.)

I didn't start this thread, but if it was not for this thread I would not have made it to the event, nor would have some other forum members.

I am surprised that you have an objection to posting of these types of threads.

As for your comment above, if the post was to invite a group of NSX folks to attend a game that might be his 295th win, I don't think there is any problem with that. And I don't think Ferrari forum members would have a problem if one of their own members (as was the case here, not some outsider as your example suggests) posted a note about an NSX event, but ICBW. Nor is there any indication that NSX prime is overrun with Ferrari event postings, so I don't see the reason to add drama to the example by saying "every NSX gathering" instead of this single, isolated event.

Further, I don't recall you voicing an objection to other Midwest forum posts for non-NSX-specific events, such as Vintage Races at Road America or CGI/BMWCCA driving schools. Or more specifically, these threads for Woodward and SCCA racing.

http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showt...threadid=34371

http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showt...threadid=34096

In any event, we have a moderator for the forums and this site is the most well-policed car forum I have ever had the pleasure of being a member of. If this thread is problematic, I am sure they will let us know.

Ken and I get along, we just don't always agree and are not afraid to say so. I have no ill will towards him, but I am not going to simply acquiesce in what he says if I disagree. K?

We are going to a non-NSX car show this weekend as well, and posted it in the midwest forum as an NSX brunch. We did it last year for the Lake Geneva brunch to go to Volo. Didn't hear of any NSX's in that museum.

The same goes for the Ferrari show.

If just a few words were changed, I think Ken would be happy. It should have said "Hey Midwest NSX'rs. Anyone want to get together for a few drinks down on Oak St., and check out the Ferrari show while we are there?

Please everyone don't be afaid to list ANY cool car related event in your area!!!! Just call it a NSX get-together.

So in other words, we can all post about the Cubs and the Senate race, as long as we don't do it a lot?

Sounds like you have forgotten - THIS IS AN NSX FORUM. We already have a separate place to post non-NSX related items on NSXprime. It's called the Off-Topic Forum. That is where these posts belong. Not on the Midwest NSX Forum.

Ferraris on Oak

I went to that event, I work right there....great time!! I saw an Enzo, but no 612 yet. I didn't see any NSXers around, but there were quite a few Porsches and a couple Lamborghinis in the neighborhood.

I brought some printouts of renderings of the new 612 that I've been drawing on, and they let me in with a VIP badge that said "Judge" ha ha ha. Got some great video footage!

Can't wait to see the Chicago area NSX events!!
