ItalianCarFest on Saturday 9/10/2005, Grapevine, TX

This year’s ItalianCarFest is just over a month away. The car show (free to the public) will be from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM Saturday September 10, 2005. The location is the same as past years: The Cross Timbers Winery in Grapevine, TX.

If you have not been, it’s lots of fun. Here are some pictures from 2004 and 2003.

Update 8/8/2005: I received a note from the president of the Italian Car Club of the Southwest inviting to NSX owners to participate in Sunday’s track event. Please see the details below.

NSX owners are invited to participate in Sunday’s track event. Here are the details I was given:

I read the posts from the last 2 years at NSX prime forum for South Central US and I was delighted to see the enthusiasm of NSX owners for our Saturday Italian car show every September. ItalianCarFest has grown into a weekend affair. In addition to coming to the show Saturday as visitors, we invite you to participate - with your cars- in the track day on Sunday!

Here is the latest news about the events of ItalianCarFest Weekend, September 9-12, 2005 -near Dallas

SATURDAY- The main event of the weekend, the ItalianCarFest car & two-wheeler show at Cross Timbers Winery (corner of Dove Loop & N. Main, Grapevine) featuring the absolute best of Italian machinery displayed on manicured lawn. Drive up Awards Cermony at 4 p.m. Note: The Party Patio at the winery is a great spot for clubs to meet-up to enjoy lunch and the show.

SUNDAY- OPEN TO ALL MARQUES: Boardwalk Ferrari/Maserati-Porsche Track Day. This will be an exceptional Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway with access to a private clubhouse for drivers and their guests, a special covered area adjacent to the track and other extras provided by Texas Driving Experience, a company specializing in organizing premiere track events. Cars will drive on the inner track, called the Le Mans Road Course. Separate enrollment required:

MONDAY- Texas Ducati Track Day with AMS at MotorSport Ranch. European motorcycles only.

The 2005 show will be free to the public. We are making plans for more than 12,000 visitors. We expect plenty of great cars with 135 entrants from 15 states. In addition we will have a wide variety of motorcycles.

I don't know the area very well - Just name the time and place and we'll be there.

Back at the show, the highlight for me was the amazing...

Bugatti EB110SS




But, this is not your average EB110. It is only of only 31 SS versions in existence. At one time, Michael Schumacher had one identical to this one (SS version in yellow).


The regular EB110 and the SS both have a quad turbo, 3.5L, 60 valve, V12 engine.


However, the SS version makes 612HP at 8250 RPM, hits 60 in 3.2s, and tops out at just under 220 MPH. It's also lighter, largely due to being RWD instead of AWD. I also heard this one is not exactly stock.

Wow - not something you see every day.
