Inner Fender Liner Removal and Fender Rolling

Hey guys,
Are there any of you rolled fenders on the NSX before? Or atleast removed the inner fender liners because the car is tooo low? I may have to roll mine when everything is said and done, and that means may have to remove the fender liner. However, I'm afraid that some rocks might hit some parts. Is this a big deal? I mean guys with widebody kits don't have fender liners do they?

I am also concerned about aerodynamics? Will it cause some negative effects?

Thanks guys.

I rolled my front fenders to accommodate 225-40 18s. Bought my roller off ebay. Took about an hour per fender, mostly to evenly and carefully heat the 14 year old paint. No aerodynamic issues, just road debris noise. Supposedly, debris hitting the unprotected inside can cause spider like cracks although I haven't had any yet. Hope this helps.

Danny

niM,
Don't do it:smile: Someone posted a picture of rear fenders without an inner liner and it looked like a bad case of acne due to the rocks hitting the underside of the aluminum panel. In regards to the aftermarket widebody, they are fiberglass or carbon fiber so are more prone to paint cracks than inner dents. I know that some people put rubber underbody to prevent the cracks (that is what I put on our Noble). The rear is probably more prone to problems than the front since you can spin the rear tires on loose stones. I suspect that is why Danny isn't having any issues.

Thanks guys for responding.

Tim, that's a great idea with the rubber underbody. I may just have to do that. Still undecided if I will roll the fenders anyway, but I've always liked the rims to be pushed out just a tiny bit pass the fender.

Thanks again

To help with spider cracks I used sound-deadning material.Something that car audio guys use:eg-Dyno-mat.Easy to apply, just a bit of heat and the stuff conforms to all curves and once done almost impossible to get off.I figured for the size of rocks the NSX tire could pick-up this material would be sufficient enough.Hey maybe a new product here,LOL!!!
Seemed to work good.
just my $.02

After rolling the front fenders, I was ableto keep the rear portion to the front fender liner, say to about 10:30. The tabs that hold the upper/outer edge of the liner are rolled in and unuseable. I had already removed the front section of the front liners to clear airflow through my two front oil coolers that were placed where the AC condensors used to be.

Danny
