HRE Wheels with Brembo BBK

I'm thinking that HRE's are probably the sexiest wheels I can find. If you get on their site and look at the Lambos and Ferrari's.... man they look sick.

If I've got the Brembo BBK all the way around, does anyone know what offset I'm going to have to order to fit with no spacers? I like 19 rear / 18 front.

Thanks for your help guys..

P.S. If any of you have HRE's with any kind of BBK I'd love to see it.

Thanks!

HRE will make the wheels to fit your particular aplication.FWIW One of thier sales people owned an nsx,John I think his name is.Anyway they would have you take certain measurements of the hubs and calipers and such to get the right fit.You pay enough thats the least they could do.

Ive had MANY sets of HREs and they are worth the $$$ IMO not only for the quality, but for their customer service. When they build your wheels, they will take BBKs/lips/suspension/etc into consideration and build the offsets based on your feedback. Ive NEVER had to make one measurement on my cars, and the offsets are dead-on perfect. Contact HRE directly or contact Ben @ Wheelboutique as he's spec'd a few of my HREs. Shoot me a pm and I can get u his contact info or my POC at HRE.

HRE is so good with helping on wheel fitment , there is almost no need to get into a huge discussion on the offset / width ,but you need to decide diameter yourself
15/16 - good for track/cheap tires/mediocre looks
16/17- almost same,slightly better looks/still dated/still pretty cheap tires
17/17- oem '02-up fitment,reasonable tire price/starting to get more modern,size-wise
17/18- even more modern looking, still lots of tire choices(at a higher price for rears)
18/18- less choice of tires(if you want front and rear to match) some think rears look small compared to front
18/19 - biggest size you can go w/out rubbing(assuming correct width/offset/tire size) lokks great, very few tire choices(in true uhp tires) lots of cheaper(relatively) tires
19/20 - bigger still , I have run two different sets of these on my car, you can't drive practically on them, they rub , you can't run fender liners in the front (unless you don't care about killing the liners!), they look really big(some like it , some don't) , tires are astronomical, basically they are great for show!
You will notice that I have left out handlig and ride characteristics, I feel that the ride portion of this is pretty self explanitory(worsening with increased size, unless you run track tires in a smaller size vs. street tires in a larger size) ,the difference is not huge from size to size.
The handling is so subjective , you need to decide yourself, what kind of driving/roads you have will also have an impact(pun intended!) on your choice!
good luck with whatever you choose and HAPPY MOTORING!

edit:
you can download the template for your bbk from brembo or email it to HRE (I'm also certain they have it on file )

Ive had MANY sets of HREs and they are worth the $$$ IMO not only for the quality, but for their customer service.

I sold my 545's because of their TERRIBLE customer service; I was trying to get in direct contact with somebody for nearly a month when I wanted to have my lips replaced, and instead got to play voice mail tag the entire time, waiting for them to call me back with an appointment time; I would call, then wait 3 days to get a call back.

I became so frustrated by this experience, I ended up selling my wheels with damaged lips at a discount, so the new owner could have them replaced by HRE.

I'm going to go with the 18's and 19's. I'm going with these COMP C20's.

http://www.hrewheels.com/wheels.php?q=/COMP/COMP20/

Oddly enough the "competition" series which I assume are lighter wheels, are actually priced lower. How does that make sense?

Usually 'competition' wheels are physically weaker, as they're not intended for pot holes, and might come 'unsealed', as they're intended to be frequently checked for tire pressure while racing... 'competition' use typically means they should be used for exactly that.

When BBS sells magnesium 'competition' wheels they're unsealed, relatively unfinished (the surface is rough), and they're much weaker than their special edition street mag wheels.

I've had GREAT customer service from HRE and yes they will completely customize your wheels to your car and brakes. Remember, anytime you have tires mounted, to tell the person you find to trust with these expensive wheels that they have a silicone seal inside (3 piece) and be very careful not to puncture it or it will leak. It's happened to me twice and they even knew about the seal.

Good to know. I've heard nothing about this silicone seal, (which I assume is replaceable). I'll be calling the guy with the contace info I received today. God I can't believe I'm going to drop the jack for these wheels.

I had the same experience ^.

When someone finally got back to me, I was told I could not buy just the lips...I had to send it in for repair. Even after explaining that I had the proper tools and have repaired a number of 3 piece wheels from various race cars I've owned. I ended up sending mine to Wheels America, where it was fixed perfectly and I had it back in 3 days. Oh... and for less than the cost of the lips alone.

Great choice in wheels. Please contact Ben @ www.wheelsboutique.com or his screen name on here thewb. He is the owner of wheelsboutique and is the best when it comes to HRE prices/offsets to fit your car. My Dad has purchased 2 sets of HRE's from him (now running 18/19 setup) and I have purchased 1 set of another type of rims. He is very easy to deal w/ and I have sent several people there. Good luck.

I think you deserve to get another viewpoint of the experiences people have had with Ben at WB:rolleyes:

Oh wow... I'm glad I saw that. I hadn't heard anything but great customer service stories about them. I talked to Ben today on the phone and he seemed more than helpful. I told him my car is up on a rack right now and timing is of the essense... I can't get my car down until the wheels arrive. He told me he'd send out some stock NSX wheels for me to use temporarily until the new ones arrived. I reminded him with the new Brembos they won't fit, he forgot I had stuck those one. But it was still a hell of a nice gesture. He did tell me the HRE's would be 2-3 weeks to my door.

I asked him about this silicone seal. He mentioned on the COMP wheels it's recessed so far down, somebody that had never mounted a tire could probably mount it and not break the seal.

Well I'm pretty jaded right now. When I was thinking HRE's I was thinking great customer service and great quality wheels, now I'm hearing weak wheels with cracking spokes and horrible customer service. WTF?!? :frown:

Is there anyone besides HRE that offers a wheel in the styling of an
890R or a Comp20?

Get what you want, don't worry about some haters think, there will always be differences of opinion. Like I said we are on the 2nd set of HRE's and no issues thus far. I just love the look of HRE's and w/ the custom fitment, how can you go wrong.

They just fit the car so well IMO.

I'm not being a "Hater", I'm telling it like it is and give fair warning to Kyle (OP)...and YES, I got that message from Ben today. Sounds like an indirect threat to me. Oh, but who cares. You've had good experiences with them so that is all that matters, right?

Nothing directed towards you, it was only about people on the net in general hating on some wheel brands and some iking others, thats all. The Internet tends to drum up so many diff. opinions on wheels, it is hard to believe anyone or anything. Nothing directed towards you, sorry if it seemed that way. However, my exp. (3 now) w/ Ben have been flawless and the c/s we have gotten has always been top notch. If have have personal opinions/feeling about Ben such as this PM you had cut and paste, maybe it is better you kept those private. That is why they are called PM's.
