The R34 wasn't sold in the US so I can't really comment on it, but it seems like most Asian products are undervalued (less costly) here relative to their European counterparts. Fine Asian cuisine, watches, fountain pens, cars. Great if you want to have the experience for a lower cost of entry!

I read an article very recently that explained how good looking people were more monetarily successful, so I think there's support for what you've experienced by upgrading your physique.

You could do it on minimum wage if you didn't have other expenses (i.e., live at home). I saved up for a handful of years and then went on a deployment to get mine. But, I have other obligations. Good luck.
