What's black and white and driven all over? Our 1991 Berlina Black is now a panda, thanks to Bourbon Street Wraps here in the greater Phoenix area. We're delighted — this is the color scheme we wanted in the first place.
When I registered my '91, AAA offered me the historic plate. I asked if there was any benefit to it, they said no. Given that it cost extra $$$, I declined.
Bay Area friends -- remember OPERAND, black stock '91 on the Peninsula? As you may recall, we moved to Phoenix, and so I'm ANSIBLE now, rocking an Arizona license plate. Am having a wonderful time down at NSXPO; if you see me, say hi!
Minor correction: Carole is coming out Friday, so not part of the caravan.

The Baofengs are quite good radios. I picked up the UV82HP model, in part to play with it, and in part so that we'd have a second HT for the nsxca frequency (my wife and I are taking separate cars to NSXPO). I've been using it for the past few days to access the local talknets, both from the...
The radio will work with the regular antenna... but you won't get as much range, since the signals will have trouble getting into or out from the car. You can certainly get by - I don't always use an external antenna.
Remember, everyone, that your car is a Faraday cage - hard to get radio signals in/out. Since my usual mag-mount antenna won't work on the NSX (duh!), I picked up an over-the-window mount and a new dual-band antenna mast today at Ham Radio Outlet here in Phoenix. The window mount is the...
It appears to me that we're working simplex - that is, using the same 464.550 frequency for transmit and receive. Think like CB Radio or Family Radio. So, we don't need any of the more complex settings we'd use if working a ham repeater, like tones.
By the way, I'm using my trusty Yaesu VX-5R...
Welcome! We and our NSX live over in the Moon Valley part of Phoenix. That's 7th St. and Thunderbird. Sorry, can't recommend a storage place for your baby.
I don't like the bling either. Were I interested in that car (which I'm not, it's basically identical to mine), I'd get rid of all that stuff and restore it to straight stock.
I looked over that car today when bringing mine in for service at Acura of Peoria. It's very pretty, lots of aftermarket bling on it. A service guy said it's going to need a lot of work - new clutch, new brakes, and more.
