Steering vibration and clicking on/off throttle

Can't figure out what's causing a metallic clicking sound when easing into 1st gear and going on or off throttle at low rpm. Also getting slight steering vibration and slight pulling to the right at freeway speeds. Bad vibration under heavy braking. Inspected front tie rods and control arm...

    Cayman GT4 - German NSX?

I would love to spec a GT3 Touring with rear seats, but I don't think that's an option even if you threw a stack of Benjamins at your Porsche dealer. :( Funny, I just re-read this an hour ago. I read it when it was first published and had forgotten how well written it was! His thoughts on the...

    Cayman GT4 - German NSX?

Oh definitely - no doubt the GT4 is still a German car and that has its fair share of implications. But I do hear that Porsche is one of, if not the best German manufacturer in terms of reliability and build quality. But to Allen's point in the video, even scheduled maintenance is $$$$ if you're...

    Cayman GT4 - German NSX?

Who here has considered the Porsche Cayman GT4 as a replacement for the Gen 1 NSX? After driving a bone stock example, it really got me thinking... if my 91 NA1 value ever gets within striking distance of a used GT4... https://youtu.be/30ozWStfJWw Also, both Matt Farah and myself have drawn...

Stock Gen 2 versus Modded (forced induction) Gen 1

I would definitely be interested in filming the event, depending on date/location. Wouldn't mind taking a day off work.

Tracking the NSX at Laguna Seca - Oversteer and Overheating

Under 2 min for day 1 is pretty good with a stock NSX. My best was a 1:51. Probably won't track the NSX anymore though. Too risky.

Tracking the NSX at Laguna Seca - Oversteer and Overheating

Nice. Wish I could go on 11/26 but I'll be out of the country. Here are my alignment settings from April: My tires are fairly sticky and I don't run a front plate. Hopefully the MASiV does the trick. Good read on corner phases!

Tracking the NSX at Laguna Seca - Oversteer and Overheating

True, better safe than sorry. Damn, and thus begins the slippery slope. All started with the radiator. I'm on factory 93+ alignment. Hmm okay. Will keep all that in mind for the next track day.

Tracking the NSX at Laguna Seca - Oversteer and Overheating

True, I should hone my skills on the stock setup before I try to change the handling characteristics of the car. I don't plan to go R comps while the car is stock, so I'm guessing the baffled oil pan isn't necessary? I'm leaning towards Dec. 11 track day. We'll be well rested with a full...

Tracking the NSX at Laguna Seca - Oversteer and Overheating

I just ordered the MASiV radiator per Regan's recommendation. You're the 3rd person to recommend a vented hood today so I may look into that after I see how the new radiator performs on track. And now the 4th person. :) I checked Trackmasters' site and didn't see any Laguna track days coming...

Tracking the NSX at Laguna Seca - Oversteer and Overheating

ZII's are the only tires I've tried on my NSX. Once they're done I may switch over to the AD08R. Thanks for the suggestions. You're right, I went into the corkscrew a bit too hot because I knew that was the last lap I could push the car due to heatsoak. Not the smartest idea. :)

I'll be visiting India during the 2nd half of November. Hoping I make it back in one piece.

Tracking the NSX at Laguna Seca - Oversteer and Overheating

Haha, Jeff is faster than pretty much everyone. One thing that was immediately evident when riding with him is that he's 100% confident in his ability to stop the car. He brakes so late and stands on the pedal so hard in a way that I would never even consider attempting with just my upgraded...

Tracking the NSX at Laguna Seca - Oversteer and Overheating

Yep, my rear tire pressures after the first 20 minute session were 45 psi. Reduced it to 37 psi immediately before the 2nd session but both instances of oversteer in my video still happened about 10 minutes into the session. I don't have the rear beam bushings. My car is totally stock at the...

Tracking the NSX at Laguna Seca - Oversteer and Overheating

Regan, all of your tips are going to result in the emptying of my wallet. After riding in Jeff L's car I'm pretty sold on KW V3 and his 215/265 tire setup for a street/track NSX. And don't get me started on the Stoptech BBK. There were a few moments when I thought we were going to fly...

Tracking the NSX at Laguna Seca - Oversteer and Overheating

NSX track junkies, my track day at Laguna Seca yesterday was cut short due to hot weather and rising coolant temps. Also had a few sketchy moments of sudden oversteer in 2nd gear. Any tips on managing oversteer and overheating? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97Sf4bD6Cb8

My Review of the 997.1 Turbo 6MT

Ah ok. I'd consider a 996 C2S as a daily driver then. I would just have to put up with the ugly egg yolks.
