As most of you already know, the NSXPO will be held in Vegas in 2010. We are feverishly slaving away filling out an action packed schedule, chock full of activities. However, with Vegas being the entertainment capital of the world, many of you from out of town will probably partake in numerous activities extracurricular to the actual NSXPO event.

So Danny asked me to put together a thread where we can answer any questions you may have about Vegas. And since I know the city pretty darn well and I used to run a 10,000+ member forum dedicated to Vegas, I should be able to answer any question you might have including, but not limited to:

- Gambling and Poker
- Hotels and Rooms
- Clubs and Parties
- Strip Clubs
- Hookers and Brothels
- Spas
- Hotel/Gambling Etiquette
- Tipping
- Valet Parking
- Restaurants and Food
- Entertainment
- Shows
- Locals Hookups
- Discounts
- Golfing
- Free Activities
- Family Activities
- Scenic Drives
- Museums
- Weather
- Shopping
- Traffic and Short Cuts
- Airport
- Taxis

You get the idea. So if you have a question specifically about NSXPO please go to the official NSXPO thread. However, if you have a question outside of NSXPO and any NSXPO events, please ask me here (which is also why this is in Off-Topic). Please use this thread, and this thread only, and do not PM me (my inbox is nearly full and I will most likely not get the message.)

Thanks and see you in Vega$!

Some basic things you may or may not know about Vegas, but should:

Geography:
“Downtown” is old Las Vegas. It is where Freemont Street and older hotels/casinos are located such as the 4 Queens and Fitzgeralds.
The area where all the newer hotel/casinos are located, like the Bellagio, runs along Las Vegas Boulevard and is called “The Strip”. Do not call The Strip, “downtown” as it will be confusing.

The Strip is approximately 4.5 miles from The Mandalay Bay at the south to The Stratosphere at the north.

The famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas is approximately ½ a mile south of the Mandalay Bay on Las Vegas Blvd. You’ll probably want to take a picture there before you leave. The parking lot is accessible driving south from Mandalay Bay, but if you are heading north, there is a u-turn turn available right after you pass the sign.

Hotels and Casinos:
For the most part, all parking is free. Everywhere on the Strip, the parking is free, including all casino parking decks. There are some areas Downtown where you have to pay for parking but if you park in a casino lot, you can usually have it validated in the casino in or near the “cage”.

Valet parking is also free, although tips are essentially expected.

The “cage” is the area where you can cash in your chips and “coins” for money and vice versa

When you are gambling, drinks are FREE. However, a $1 tip is usually expected for the cocktail waitress who brings you the drink.

You may walk around the hotel and Strip areas with open containers of alcohol legally. However, this will not keep you from getting arrested if you start acting loud and act the fool.

When you walk along the Strip, people will constantly try to hand you fliers and cards. They are advertisements for strippers. You do not have to take them even though they try to force them in your hand.

Currently, the hottest clubs at the moment are Tao (in the Venetian) and XS (in the Encore). Getting into these clubs can be quite difficult, unless you are a group of attractive females. One or more single men will have a hard time getting in, unless they are willing to spend a significant amount of money or have a hookup.

For the most part, most locations on the Strip is relatively very safe. Crimes occasionally happen but are rare. The further you wander off of the Strip, the more likely you will encounter trouble.

If you have not watched the Bellagio Fountains in person, I highly recommend it.

Other:
You may get solicited by a prostitute while you are here. Prostitution in Clark County (where Vegas is located) is technically illegal. However, it doesn't get enforced very hard.

Prostitution is legal outside of Clark Co and brothels can be found about 50 minutes out in areas like Pahrump and north of Indian Springs.

More to follow...

So does what "happen in Vegas" really "stay in Vegas"??

That's all I need to know.

On a $25 craps table, how much "odds" do they allow you to lay on a passline bet? Also, will our cars be alright outside?:biggrin:
Passline

Anywhere from double to 100x! With a handle like Passline we have to go throw some dice together! One of the best "Local" places is downtown at the Main Street Casino.
