So I'm a musical type of person and theres nothing better than a beautiful exhaust note. So help me compile a list of best exhaust sounds.

Best 4 Cylinder: Subaru sti? Honda s2000? I really don't know. Help me out here.

Best 6 Cylinder:

I know I left out a lot: Twin Turbo Supra, Porsche GT2/GT3, DB9, Enzo, F40, F50, etc. Please street cars only. No F1's, JGTC, or drag cars.

Some toughies here

1. Easy S2000. Never heard a Subie sound as good as the S2K four banger especially at full scream!

2. This hurts my soul ,but I've had both and the NSX never seems to sound as good as the M3 inline 6 especially the CSL. M3 with GruppeM and raspX rivals a lot of exotics.

Best sounding NSX clip to me so far has been the NSX-R ,but doesn't match the CSL:frown: Oh well we can't get either here anyway.

F355 may have the sweetest V8 Ferrari sound ever. Of course you never know what's coming. I've heard F430 and F360 while on the track racing against them but 355s song always cuts through the helmet.

No Testarossa sound clips for the 12 cylinder catergory:eek:
 
Are we talking production cars, or best exhaust note of ANY car ever created (race or street)?

IMO:

4 cylinder:
STI sounds like a hoover vacuum
BMW's 1900hp 1.4L I-4 sounded pretty badass

6 cylinder:
NSX sounds good, but not 'exotic' or all that special -IMO (although I love my NSX)
M3 CSL sounds pretty good, and the PTG race motors from Grand Am and ALMS sounded amazing -especially their intake suction noise.

8 cylinder:
Production car - F355 (well over 360 or 430)

10 cylinder:
Carrera GT -hands down.

12 cylinder:
512 TR sounds like a 1980's ferrari - really good, but should not even be considered with all the other 12cylinder options out there.
McLaren F1 sounds great for a street car.
...um every Formula 1 engine ever built...(but I guess you could say that about 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 cylinders)

4cyl: Eh not to fond of raspy all motors but a well put together B18C with turbo sounds good with a good exhaust IE: RSR (does not drown out the spool of the turbo.)

6cyl: Toyota Supra TT

8cyl: 355 ferrari

10 cyl: Porsche carerra GT

12 cyl: pagani zonda

16cyl: bugatti veyron
 
Man I wish I had a clip of my car on the straights at Watkins Glen at 8K rpm's. It was unreal with the sound bouncing off the track walls. Even my instructor said he wanted to take his helmet off just to hear the car more. The NSX with the right exhaust definitely gets the 6 cyl. vote from me.
 
A notible V6 exhaust note is the 15 degree(Burrowed from Lancia) VR6 VW Motor. With high duration cams, headers and exhaust sounds very much like a Ferrari.

NSX with Taitec JGTC lovely note.

V10 as mantioned CGT V12 Enzo.
 
A few thoughts:

The Zonda sounds exactly like my 360 with hi flow cats and Capristo Level 3. I've heard that the Kresseig exhaust doesn't sound as impressive in person.

The 430s don't sound as good as 360s or 355s. The Stradale sounds wonderful but a 360 with a Capristo Level 3 sounds better. The Capristo Level 3 is LOUD.
