Race Central Host to be Featured Speaker at NSXPO 2012
Kurt Hansen, a former professional driver and an award-winning broadcaster, will be the featured speaker and a driving instructor during NSXPO 2012, which is an annual gathering of Acura NSX owners throughout North America. The event is being held this year from Sept. 13-18 in the Boulder, Colo., area.
Hansen was a member of the French Formula 3 AVIA team in 1986, and he claimed both the West Coast Formula Atlantic and Pacific Coast Racing Championships in 1991. He also competed professionally in the Champ Car World Series Toyota Atlantic Championship from 1991-93.
After retiring as a professional driver, he launched a successful broadcasting career, first as host of Race Central at KNBR 1050 in 2001 in San Francisco. In 2003, he moved the program to KLZ 560, which is Denver's ESPN Radio affiliate. He now is heard on the Rocky Mountain’s Yahoo Sports Radio affiliate KCKK AM 1510 and FM 93.7 Friday and Saturday Evenings from 6-8 PM MTN. Hansen has also been heard nationwide as motor sports correspondent for ESPN Radio’s The V Show, which is featured on all 450 of the network’s affiliates.
The NSXPO event, organized by the NSX Club of America, has attracted 100 participants and 50 NSXs from as far away as Florida and Canada. The event includes a variety of social activities, including two days of high performance driving instruction at High Plains Raceway near Byers, Colo., where Hansen will participate as a driving instructor. Hansen also will address the group during its main banquet at the Omni Interlocken Resort in Broomfield.
Hansen's awards include the prestigious “Telly” Award, recognizing outstanding performance on a cable/satellite television program. He also hosts the television version of Race Central on National Televisions MavTV Network – television home of Lucas Oil Motor Sports Programming to millions of homes Nationally on Dish Network Channel 361 and dozens of Cable Outlets around the Country.
His most recent National/Global Race Broadcast coverage was the live broadcast of the 90th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on Aug. 12 in Colorado Springs.
