The Infamous "Snap Ring" Problem

Officially known by Acura as the "Broken Countershaft Bearing Snap Ring" problem, it was a manufacturing defect in the 5-speed transmission in 1991-1992 and according to Acura, it only affected transmission numbers in the following range: #3542 - #5978. An Acura technical service bulletin (TSB-93-010) describes the problem and remedy and can be found here. There have been unconfirmed rumours of failures outside the number range but they tend to be rare
