17/17 and 17/18 Tire Choices - not much left.

Are Yoko Advan Fleva in factory sizes still available for 17" 215 and 245? I see the 2002 CTSC listing on BaT right now has them with a relatively new installation, but I can't get any of the major tire sites to show available.

If you're running 17/17, Advan Flevas are available in stock sizes - 215/45R17 for the fronts and 255/40R17 for the rears. No 245/40. You can see all the sizes available here under "view all specs": https://www.yokohamatire.com/tires/advan-fleva-v701

Here they are on Amazon:
Front https://www.amazon.com/Yokohama-110170144-PARADA-SPEC-X/dp/B07M8DH9YQ
Rear https://www.amazon.com/Yokohama-ADVAN-SPORT-40r17-110170151/dp/B07M8P2WMP

I've run Flevas on cars in the past and it's a great 300TW summer tire. Planning on getting them for my next set. I believe it is just an updated Yokohama S.Drive, which was also a solid tire.

Ah. That’s why I can’t see it on the other sites - they don’t have the 245 rear.

Guess it’s back to another set of 200TW Yoko for me.

Thanks for reply.

Not NSX experience but I ran AD08Rs on my S2000 and changed to AD09s last year. For street driving, they felt very similar with the AD09s feeling overall a bit better but that could be more the fact that they were new tires. They apparently have better wet traction due to compound differences but I haven't done a ton of wet driving to notice a difference.
I hope so, That is my only complaint with the AD08Rs. Even with 100% tread, they seemed like they wanted to break loose in the wet at cruising speeds.

nothing wrong with using the 255 rear

nothing wrong with using the 255 rear
+1 for the Flevas. Just installed and a world of improvement along with a new alignment. Mistakenly thought OEM rear was 245, but these Flevas in stock 255 size are just what I want for the street.

After doing some more research, here are my current recommendation for OEM 16/17 and 17/17 OEM tire sizes

OEM 16/17 wheels
16x7 and 17x8.5
215/45-16 and 245/40-17

The Best Tire Option for 99% of NSX owners out there using factory 16x7 & 17x8.5 wheels is the:

Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 in 205/45-16 and 245/40-17.

Factory 16/17 tire size: 215/45ZR16 and 245/40ZR17
Current options today are:
  1. FALKEN AZENIS RT660 $800
  2. BFGOODRICH G-FORCE RIVAL S 1.5 $870 (only 1 of each in stock)
  3. BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RE-71RS $960

Option: 205/45-16 and 245/40-17 - the new Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 $818

Front Tire Width Comparison:

Bridgestone RE-71RS - 215/45-16
Section Width: 8.4"
Tread Width: 6.8"

Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 - 205/45-16
Section Width: 8.1"
Tread Width: 6.9"

Analysis:

The Conti Sport 02 has a 0.3" narrower tire (measured from sidewall to sidewall) and a 0.1" wider tread width than the RE-71RS. Despite the nominal value (205 vs 215) being narrower for the Conti, it actually has a wider contact patch than the RE-71RS. The section width will make the tire fitment look less bulbous with the Conti as well. Overall, this numerically narrower front tire width would be more than acceptable for arguably the best performance street tire on the market.

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...wall=Blackwall&partnum=05WR5ECS02V2&tab=Sizes

This tire is one of the best all-around performance car tires available in terms of:
-dry grip
-wet grip
-steering response (better than PS4S)
-handling
-quiet
-ride quality
-on track durability (better than PS4S)

The Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 is one of the best, if not arguably the best tire of any brand in its category. The benchmark in this segment is the Michelin Pilot Sport PS4S, which is used on many performance/sports/supercars from the factory, but is not available in NSX sizes. The Sport 02 and the PS4S are pretty much dead-even in pretty much every category.

Whether the NSX is a daily driver in cold areas where it rains, or a summer/weekend car, or occasional track car, this tire is my go-to recommendation unless significant compromises are acceptable for outright laptimes and track performance.

OEM 17/17 wheels
17x7 and 17x8.5
215/40-17 and 245/40-17

Factory 16/17 tire size: 215/45ZR16 and 245/40ZR17
Current options today are:
  1. Yokohama Advan Fleva V701 (street)
  2. Yokohama Advan Neova AD09 (street/track)
  3. Yokohama A052 (street/track)
  4. Falken RT615K+ (street/track)
  5. Falken RT660+ (street/track)
  6. Nankang CR-S (street/track)
Option: 225/40-17 and 245/40-17 or 255/40-17 - the Continental ExtremeContact Force (street/track)

RECOMMENDATION:

(without personal experience and based on analysis of TireRack's numbers:

Yokohama Advan Fleva V701 - Best Daily Driver Tire that sees rain often. It has the best combination of wet grip, comfort, treadwear, and decent dry grip.

Yokohama Advan Neova AD09 - Best Daily Driver tire where absolute best wet weather performance isn't the #1 deciding factor. It still has great wet grip, comfort, treadwear, but significantly better dry grip and performance.

Yokhama A052 - Absolute fastest tire of the bunch on track. Great tire on the street but it will wear out quickly and have slightly less comfort and wet grip as the AD09, but realistically most people probably won't tell the ride quality or wet grip difference, but they will notice the dry grip and how quickly it wears.

Continental ExtremeContact Force - Most durable and longest lasting tire on track. Great daily driver (I have these on my RX-7) and it has similar wet grip to the AD09 and A052. Comfort is rated lower than A052 and AD09, but I find them to be very good and quiet tires for daily drivers. This is the best tire for the frequent track day or canyon carver who wants the longest life out of their tires when pushing them but does not care about absolute fastest lap times.

This concludes my July 2025 NSX tire updates.
