    The $40k Dilema

I'd probably go with the C6. (And I'm well under 50 and hate NASCAR.) Yea, the Elise is a looker and would make a hell of an auto-xer but I already find my S2000 marginally challenging as a daily driver. I can't imagine trying to find a place to stow my bass in an Elise! And with the base C6...

    Smaller width tires in snow???

Yep, you're right, it's the shape of the contact patch. A wider contact patch has to push down/aside much more snow than a thinner one.

    Smaller width tires in snow???

Yes, thinner tires work much better in the snow. The reason is simple, they cut deeper into the snow and concentrate more weight into a smaller area giving better traction. It is the opposite of and where you want wider tires.

    Next generation NSX at 450HP

LOL, Believe me I would. I didn't say I only prioritized power, I said a sports car should have power (or perhaps more specific to the NSX, have a high power:weight ratio) as a priority and not fuel efficiency.

Why buy NSX when you can get used Z06 for 35,000?

They did. The 512TR is like the Testarossa in apperance only. It's ~ 300lbs lighter, significantly faster, stiffer and handles much better. It shares very few parts with the Testarossa. (Hence the name change) The F512M is an even bigger step up, lighter still and with more power. Prices are...

    Next generation NSX at 450HP

What are you talking about? The Vette with its "low-tech" ( yea, right) pushrod 5.7l V8 is rated at a better hwy mileage than my high-tech, "efficient" 2.0l F20C. While Honda makes some very green cars and some of that design philosophy leaks into other products it should not be a...

    NSX competition...?

Yes, often times S2000s do beat C5s and Z06s (and e46 M3s). I've even done it myself. However, that is because the driver is better, not the car. Generally speaking, the higher the class the better performing the car. There are exceptions of course (as you've noted) but they are exceptions. The...

    NSX competition...?

Huh? C5 vettes (all C5s) are classed in Super Stock (SS). They are better auto-x cars than S2000s. Even C4s are classed higher (AS) than S2000s (BS). I know Vettes ain't so popular on this board but let's at least be honest of their capabilities. Take a look at the Nationals if you want to...

Whats higher, NSX payment or Rent?

Boy, reading this thread has made me feel much better about my financial decisions. We've only had our house for 3 years so we don't have squat for equity but I guess you've got to start somewhere. I did kinda blow it by buying the S2000 last year but oh well, I'm planning to pay that off early...

    NSX sequel decided: 6 cylinders

You really think a 400hp V6 is going to get 17/24 MPG? Gas mileage has nothing to do with how many cylinders an engine has and barely anything to do with displacement. Case in point: S2000 2.0L I4 mileage: 20/26 mpg Corvette 5.7L V8 mileage: 18/25 mpg Wow, big difference. Fuel...

    NSX sequel decided: 6 cylinders

Why does everyone think a V8 or adding displacement is going to turn a nimble, mid-engined car into an unbalanced behemoth?? This makes no sense to me. You guys realize that GM's LS1 V8 is a little over 100 pounds heavier than an F20C but has nearly three times the displacement right? Now if GM...

    Viper GTS?

THe S2000 does that too. Of course, we need as much torque as we can get! I wouldn't think you would even notice the compressor loss on a Viper.

    s2000 rear torque

Check the tire pressure. Mine did this, I checked the tire pressure and the drivers side was about 10 pounds low. Also had a nice nail stusk into it. ------------------ 2002 S2000

What kind of jobs do NSX owners have?

    A C-5 pilot? You tellin me he can't sneak a little ole NSX into a C-5?? ------------------ 2002 S2000

    New guy here!

Hey all, just wanted to introduce myself since I'm a "prospective" buyer. I bought an S2000 this past March and love it. But... I went on an S2000 cruise this past weekend and somebody decided to be a bully and bring his 91 SC'd NSX! I now have a new goal! Now I just have to pay off my car and...
