Let me introduce you to "Culiacan", a very beautiful 2001 Silver NSX-T. I bought her in late 2005 and put about 6,000 miles on her with the longest trip going out to 2006 NSXFest. She is all stock except for the Tien-x Suspension Kit with Coilovers.
She is in near perfect condition with only...
N Spec, everything you say makes sense. And yes transmission and differential can compensate for a high reving low torque engine but it's not the same. I have driven many cars, turbo and non-turbo cars. Given equal driving ability, the car with natural torque like the Z06 vs turbo charged...
Right but not "out run" the Z06. Acceleration is more pronounced from Torque than HP. The Z06 has gobs of torque at any rpm unlike the NSX.
On the road course, cars with 100 more hp like comparing a bmw 328 to a m3, the m3 will have a difficult time making up 5 to 7 car lenghts on a 1/6 mile...
It’s hard to believe that a NSX could out run a Z06 in a straight line……Turbo or no turbo.
Comparing my NSX to Z06, I could argue that the handling is better, the NSX seems to exude super car feel, but when it comes down to speed in a straight line and even on a course: the Z06 wins.
The Z06...
I have owned several BMWs - all M cars - and yes they do have annoying little issues that cost several hundred dollars each......
My first Love - '98 E36 M3 - has more than 200K and has been flawless. I have tracked her more than 10 times and to date only two brake jobs, one clutch, water pump...
I am assuming that you are referring to the older E46 M3 and the E39 M5 which are great cars.
The M3 has a great motor and likely compete very close in stock to stock racing with the NSX. Most of the M3s came with SMG (computer controlled F1 like trans) but the manual is a better and funner...
Your point is very important and for a race multiply times 15 or 30 or more and you get 7 seconds and 15 seconds.
The other important factor is wheel dimension which smaller increases the effective torque giving you better/stronger acceleration for the track
If we add in the human...
I agree with you that at the limit, the NSX will be a better car. I added the Tien(??) suspension and kept the tires and wheels stock.
Most of my driving experience is with BMWs and when I took my NSX to the track (2005 NSX EXPO) it took half a day to build my confidence in the car. My only...
Having both the M3 and the NSX, I would agree that the E36 M3 inspires more confidence and feels better for me. I am biased since the M3 was my first real sports car and have more experience with it. I have not driven both cars on the same track but next year I will take my NSX to Buttonwillow...
Yes, I agree the E36 M3 is the best in reliability. I had the 2003 E46 as a company car and loved it but it was the first car I did not keep. My Maggie and the miles we logged making sales in Socal made it possible for me to get the other cars hence she always has a special place in my...
