Which Track Wheels and Tires Should I Buy?

The car did great at the track. It had no issues at all. As a driver, I had a difficult time being as consistent as I was in my Elise. That's probably just because I'm not quite used to the NSX yet. However, my best lap of the weekend was 2 seconds faster than my previous best in the Lotus, so I...

Which Track Wheels and Tires Should I Buy?

Definitely will :) There aren't that many black 96 cars out there. I'd say yours is easily a one of a kind with your exact mods.

Which Track Wheels and Tires Should I Buy?

Thanks for the links! - - - Updated - - - That was almost a threat... I will certainly listen to all reasonable advice. I plan on getting an oil pan baffle asap. I don't abuse my cars.

Which Track Wheels and Tires Should I Buy?

Glad to hear stuntman is such a good source. That makes me especially want to hear his explanation as to why the stock oil pressure guage is not reliable on track.

Which Track Wheels and Tires Should I Buy?

How do we know the stock oil pressure gauge is useless? Not trying to argumentative, just asking. While you're completely right, no car is fast on a road course without r-comp tires. I'm going to be on the track with good drivers, many of which have GT-R's, 911's, Corvettes, etc. The most...

Which Track Wheels and Tires Should I Buy?

Yes, and I appreciate it very much. I'm always careful with my cars, but I'm new to the NSX and can use the knowledge of all of you. That's especially true on the track. I do push for quick times, and it seems that oil pressure is something I need to be very mindful of.

That certainly doesn't make me feel any better. I will get one for the next track day.

Which Track Wheels and Tires Should I Buy?

I don't have time to change my oil pan before my track day in a week and a half. How many examples do we have of NSX engines blowing from high G oil starvation? And how many people have a stock oil pan on their track car with no issues? More importantly, how accurate is my oil pressure gauge...

Who has driven an NSX on NCM Motorsports Park (Corvette Museum)?

Thanks! All I have is the track tires and the Dali sway bars, so our cars are completely different animals. But still good info.

Who has driven an NSX on NCM Motorsports Park (Corvette Museum)?

Thank you, very interesting information. My best time in my almost stock 2006 Elise with Toyo R888's and 195 front, 235 rear width, was 2:36. Now my stock NSX has Hoosier A7's with 225 front, 275 rear. I'm thinking the much stickier tire with extra width can keep me in the mid 2:30's. But then...

Who has driven an NSX on NCM Motorsports Park (Corvette Museum)?

Thanks for the input. I'm a pretty big Lotus guy that has taken the NSX plunge. I will report my findings in a couple weeks. My old Elise definitely held a small edge in acceleration and a large weight advantage, but the NSX will support much wider wheels/tires, and I taken full advantage of...

Who has driven an NSX on NCM Motorsports Park (Corvette Museum)?

I have experience driving a mid engine car (Lotus Elise) on NCM Motorsports Park, but soon I will have my newly acquired 96 NSX there for the first time. NCM is a wonderful track that I'm lucky enough to be just 2 hours from, and I'm itching to try it with a new car. I'd like to know if anyone...

Which Track Wheels and Tires Should I Buy?

Thanks for the advice everyone, I ended up listening to some of you guys and going with the silver Enkei RFP1 wheels in 17x8 and 18x10, and getting Hoosier A7 tires. Can't wait to try them out in a couple weeks. I think these tires may just have enough grip to get the NSX around the track faster...

Which Track Wheels and Tires Should I Buy?

Thanks for the info. My car is #313 . Your question about the vin got me thinking, and after doing a little digging it looks like it was previously owned by a forum member called Soulstice who sold the car in 2003. You two were in some of the same threads back then. According to the autocheck...

Which Track Wheels and Tires Should I Buy?

Thanks for all of the ideas. I know the NSX is both heavier and slower in a straight line than my old Lotus. An HPDE isn't all about lap times, but I don't want to be a lot slower. So more grip from wider, stickier tires is my only hope to maintain my times. That and maybe the increased...
