WAY back in the day Dali had an aluminum box that fit that spot, bolted to the battery rack below, and had a cover held down with 2 wire clips...that's the right way to do it - I have a waterproof bag that fits my gloves, neck ring and helmet that fits in there nicely without blocking the fan...
