oversized metric socket (got mine at sears). first time off can be tough. actually harder to thread the cover back on blindly....sometimes it is easy and other times it seems impossible.
good luck
if you have to use one i suggest ONR

there is a smaller size available. two buckets, grit guards and multiple mitts.
if you need a link to the process, let me know.
i hv been using several of the products for a few months now. i like them and have had no problems with streaking if you apply the sealant (wipe on walk away) every thinly.
the trim sealant and interior sealant are also very nice. a little goes a long way.
durability of the paint sealant...
i would first go to autopia.org and detailuniversity.com to read up on proper technique.
products are only a small fraction of detailing but process is the bulk.
do you hv a pc or rotary to polish?
if so, a 4" medium cut pad and polish followed by a fine polish and pad should fix it unless you went through the clear.
wet sanding always leaves a very cloudy finish.
not sure if you can polish it out by hand because i hv never tried over wet sanding.

if you are using a rotary or flex to polish you should give Menzerna a try. even with a pc/udm/cyclo they are definitely a step up in every way from griot's polishes.
griot's car wash is nice too. i forgot about that one.
griot's is definitely the best at one thing. marketing. great reading.
Strange, I find the interior cleaner the only chemical I like that they offer. The speed shine isn't bad either. My general opinion of Griot's is there are better options and usually cheaper too.
an extra dose of a strong wash like NXT should remove it. if it doesn't try a paint cleaner like AIO to remove the sling.
Throw the black magic away...horrible products.
duragloss, zaino and poorboys make very nice tire dressings that won't sling and will look much better. poorboys is water...
tattoo work is sort of like hair styles. there are good ones and bad ones. my wife has two and i have a large 1/2 slv finishing on part of my chest.
i guess it is really subjective. some people like mullets so some people probably love tribal tats and barbed wire bands.
i stick with japanese...
I would try clay magic which you can find at your local autozone for about $10. If that doesn't work (you can always use it on your paint) you will have to try something more abrasive. I hv used this system on scratched windows and it does work on my metabo rotary. If you hv someone local...
I wouldn't put it in the washing machine. I used car wash and a MF mitt on mine. What cleaner made it blotchy? Maybe after it is cleaned some 303 protectant will even out the patches. Good luck with it.
are you polishing by hand or machine?
I would try what ever clay you hv or can find locally. You can also try a paint cleaner like klasse AIO.
If they don't work there are glass polishes/kits for rotary or even drills that can take out minor scratches.
can you feel it or are they water...
You did a great and thorough job with this write up. I hope it helps the community take care of their beloved cars. I can detail an NSX with my eyes closed. You would be amazed at the things you will notice (some not detail related) when you get into a good detailing routine.
