FWIW I'd trust any competent mechanic to do a compression test. when I bought my car I just took it to the nearest Acura dealer. Off the top of my head I think the closest well regarded NSX shop would be GT Japanese Automotive in Edison.

Very cool. My driver's side also retracts a bit slowly, but still on its own except the last few inches. I don't have the same cleaning equipment handy, but I'll try out a full retraction and see if that makes a difference. If not I can tell my detailer to try the steam cleaner on it next time.

I take the top off maybe 2-3 times a year, but each time I do it reminds me why it's so nice to have the option. If I tracked it I would probably care more.

Interesting. Upon closer inspection I see two part numbers listed: 18030-SL0-J00 which is supposedly compatible from 1997-2001 and 18030-SL0-J70 which is only compatible with 2000-2001. My intention is to have what originally came on my car so the latter is what I'm looking for, sorry...
