Has anyone painted their 02 headlights red instead of the grey? I was wondering if anyone has or even maybe just seen what it looks like painted red. I was thinking about doing it and was wanting to see what it would look like or get anyones opinions who have seen it. If anyone has any pics or just comments in general, I am interested in seeing or hearing, thanks!

This is what I came up with after playing with it for a few mins... I am still very much undecided but leaning more towards a 'NO' vote...

Yeah I think No is the best way to go. I just think the silver is kinda wrong for a red car to though. Thanks alot for your help.

i dunno? it looks unique, different...not necessarily bad either, you might could pull it off if you got rid of the amber marker or to paint it all red not just the hi/lo beam sec. ie modena or c6.

I agree... it needs to be painted all red and the amber marker should be cleared out.

Still don't much care for it...

I've been of the opinion for a while now that, especally on a red car, it would look good with black headlight housings. I'd like to try it if I ever get around to the '02 front end conversion...

follow your idea...

If you're gonna go through the expense and trouble of cracking-open the headlights, try this...

Overlay real carbon-fiber weave (regular, 2x2, 4x4, etc') over the portions you wish to paint, using a red pigment/dye w/ the epoxy-resin. Then apply a 'smoke' clear-coat w/ a satin/matte finish that's also an UV-protectant. They'd be the most attractive '02-'05 headlights around w/o a doubt (amongst those who've modified their's).

{As aforementioned, the amber-reflector needs to be swapped for a clear or smoked piece}

I've seen guys just take the reflector out and put a led (amber) bulb in.

I was also thinking of a flat black could someone please photo shop the headlights to a flat black or a semi gloss black. I just do not like the silver as there is no silver on the car. Has anyone taken the headlights apart and painted them? Is it a difficult job?

I did mine about 3 years ago...never any problems at all, and I love the way it looks...I use a chrome coated amber bulb with the amber reflector removed...I did a quite a few of these at SoS...its a pain in the a$$! you have to be very patient while opening and sealing.... taping off the area to be painted takes forever too. I painted mine satin black.
This is the only pic I could find at the moment:

Why not carbon fiber? haha

They look really good black on your car but I am not sure on a red car I think I am going to leave them silver and just remove the amber lense. Where do you get your lightbulbs from I can not find them anywhere?

I think if you paint all the chrome red it'll look very similar to the 3000GT headlights. I'm sure someone can photoshop the color on there and you'll see what I mean. If you like it then more power to you. :)
