02+ weight gain or weight loss???

Just bouncing around some different sites saw these two items.

First is the ABS upgrade from SOS. Unless I'm reading this wrong this is a factory upgrade by Honda so all 2001+ NSX's lost 15lbs with this modification right?

Next up is the 02+ front end conversion and according to DF this saves 37lbs over the flip ups.

Other than the cd changer I can't think of anything that would've added weight. So then shouldn't the 02+ weigh less than the 97-01 targa roof models??

Only actual weight I can find on the 97 targa is a C&D comparison from 7/97. That car weighed 3136. Total weight loss for the two items above is 52lbs and when I subtract that from the 3136 I get 3084 which is 69lbs lighter than what Honda lists. I can't find any tests where an 02+ was actually weighed the only 02+ test I have is using the weight Honda gives.

Actually, SOS got the ABS wrong (2001+).... my 2000 has the upgraded ABS.

My car corner balanced at 3241-180 (me) = 3061.

Full tank of gas (@ 6/gal), no spare, no tool tray, Tubi exhaust, JRZ dampers/springs - add a few lbs for dynomat and aftermarket sub. Otherwise stock.

Did you have the engine cover on as well? Also any weight loss using the Tubi?

yes, engine cover was on. Tubi dropped a few pounds, but it's not the lightest aftermarket exhaust. I think I read it's about 32 lbs or so (never weighed it).

Perry the downforce 02+ conversion is lighter than the stock parts. It has a lot fewer parts.

Ok so that's about another 20-25lbs if you minus the cover. Good stuff. Thanks cap!

Isn't the kit basically just housings and a front bumper???

The bumper piece they have actually replaces several factory pieces. It was listed on a thread here. They made a one piece mold of what is several parts and molds from the factory.

Know the thread name by chance? Well the fixed couldn't have added weight or did they?

It was a thread by downforce. I think in the group buy section. Either by peter or one of his guys. Check their site it may be listed or just email Peter, nsxpowered.

Perry, you get a slight weight gain from side skirts, rear valence, dressed up exhaust tips, and thicker sway bars. That probably contribute to maybe 20 lbs.

DF front end conversion is lighter than OEM because the front bumper is one piece instead of two, you save weight on brackets, mounts, and bolts. FRP it self is also lighter than OEM urethan material.

As for the advertised weight, I'm Honda just rounded it up. Keep in mind that for those us who is obsessed with weight loss and added Type R sway/Chassis bars, rear diffuser will see few more olds as well.

The biggest diet for NSX-T is to replace OEM exhaust, seats and engine shell "T" storage. That along will save you probably close to 100 lbs. My car is now less than 3000 lbs with those mods.
