1000HP K20 NSX Build-Street Car

absolutely awesome build and progress! Did you repaint the BCwheels? Or did you keep them different colors on each side?

I too registered just so I could comment on this amazing build. Thanks for sharing, I've contemplated this and similar I4 swaps many times without doing any searches to see if it had ever been done. Thanks for showing us the way! I need to re-read the finer points of your post when I can, but I'm pondering whether doing an auto/manual swap would work just the same in this case? Obviously pedals would need to be sorted out, but with the amount of things you ripped and replaced it seems like it wouldn't matter. Obviously the automatic cars are cheaper to pick up which is why I'm thinking along those lines.

Again, thanks for going against the grain and sharing what you know and learned!

Love this K20 build! If my C30 kicks the bucket, this is the path I'd likely take...but not as extreme! Keep it up!

Just an amazing ne expenses barred build!!!

Although I must admit I liked the sleeper look of the original NA1........but I may be biased

91, I'll likely go the K20 route or simply get a GT4RS if this motor gives up me...

I have a ton of updates but haven't posted anything in a while. I'll get some pictures together and start posting some stuff up. Overall the car has been lots of fun and the suspension updates I did in 2019 were definitely worth it!

Here are Some more pictures of the car since the last update.

I covered the whole nsx in clear bra as soon as the expensive paint job was dry enough. Which makes cleaning it super fast! I’ll have to list more of the details on what I’ve changed soon.

It helps the car hook, better aero, better ride, better gas mileage, etc...

It wouldn’t really work in another size 19 or 20s would be too heavy and wouldn’t work as good as this setup, it’s for very good reasons.

Have you been down the 1/4 mile?

Have you been down the 1/4 mile?

Not with this car yet. I drive it often on the street but haven’t been taken it to the track yet but I will eventually. I have lots of data on the street so I do have an idea of how fast it is, it’s decent lol.

The overall driving experience is just very driver engaging and satisfying with the noise, the engine response, the steering, the weight, etc. I have driven cars much faster than this one in the 4 digit HP columns but this one is just as fun even turned down to 500hp limping along.

Someone asked about the 2nd exhaust pipe, it’s small flame thrower for the wastegate dump tube

It never ends, awesome!

Missed your last round of pictures on the previous page.

What do you think about having a full "flat bottom" on the car?

And, lol at your comment about "500hp limping along".

Absolute perfect build and attention to detail. Kudos on all the work and the final product is crazy.

I am in the middle of the same swap myself. I have most of what I need. I went with the same Quaife as you. Can't wait to try it out.

Do you think if i contacted Rywire he could replicate the harness he made for you? Was it plug and play? What are some things you learned along the way to watch out for? So far the wiring has been the only unknown for me, everything else is falling into place quite well. Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words.
I would try to get someone in person to wire up the car, you won’t have much help doing stuff remotely. One of the local shops added a lot nice wiring as we added more electronics over the years. I did they swap so long ago, milspec harnesses and the ability to custom make different lengths were just not around...they are now. I’d swap the car with the engine with everything needed, then send the car to the wiring builder.

This project won’t be cheap but I like it. We have about 5 people I know of doing the same quaife gearbox and k20 swap. Probably a couple more trying to do just the kswap. Beaware you will need to make some custom parts despite what anyone tells you with a kit fitting perfect, they just don’t yet, don’t be unprepared.

I'm glad to see that I did take the time to stop by earlier (2016 I think) to mention how much I enjoyed seeing this build. Truly spectacular work!

What is the current curb weight? Did you manage to get into the mid 2500 pound range? Looking forward to all future updates of course.
