Is anyone running 18x8.5 +38 wheels in the front? Or similar wheels +35, +40? Any rubbing issues with 215/35/18 tires? I'm lowered on Eibach's so I'm kind of skeptical. Any input would be great, thanks!

I have not done anything personally but if you going with 215/35/18 in front you should be fine from what I gathered. I am still waiting to get my 18/19 to set up and lower it. Good luck and post some pics when done!

Yes, Tin.
You should not use anything above 8 inch wheel for the front if you don't want any rubbing.

Why would the wider wheels rub? Or why would they cause the tires to rub?

I don't think it's a great idea, just from the fact that the tires will appear "stretched" onto the wheel, and they won't protect the wheel from curbing when you park the car. For those reasons, I think 18x7.5 or 18x8 are much better choices. But I don't understand why the wider wheels would cause the tires to rub.

I don't mind the "stretched" look, I'm pretty stretched on my S2000. 235's on 18x9.5. But then again being stretched in the front is quiet a bit different than being stretched in the rear....thanks for the inputs

18x8.5 +38 will rub.
I wouldn't recommend it unless you can bring it to a machine shop and have the hub shaved down. Also, 8.5" wheel will make a 215 tire stretched (a 215 tire is already stretched on a 8" wheel).

Here my 18x7.5 +30 and it rubs on dips going straight on. Tires are 215/35/18

A 18x8.5 +38 will make the wheel stick out 5mm more this. The overall tire position will probably be the same, however the rim will stick out past the fender.

Why would the wider wheels rub? Or why would they cause the tires to rub?

Because a wider wheel ALWAYS has a longer diagonal dimension than a narrower wheel. So if you look at the car from above like a building plan, the wider wheel has less rotational freedom from lock to lock given the same wheelwell dimensions. A narrower wheel has less diagonal length so it has higher steering freedom.

This is to damn complicated,
I have searching for about two hours now and I have found some people that say they had problems and others that is fine.

Would 18x8.5 +48 rub big time at the front? I have a 8mm spacer to bring it to +40 if need it.

I will be running 225/35's/18.

I did search beleave me!!!

You will want to run 215/35/18. Rubbing will depend on how low you are and if you still have fender liners or not.

There are "safe guidelines" for front wheels / tires :
-if you do not want the chance of rubbing at all , run a max 8" wheel with a MAX OFFSET of +40 , even 42-45(no lower number) and a 215 tire.

IF you want to make it look "hella flush" ( you can flush your fender liners too , and your money):
- you can run a 8.5 wheel with a 245 tire - it'll rub EVRYWHERE.

This is not to say that "this guy" or "that guy" doesn't run something bigger or wider with no rubbing . If you no want no trouble , stick to the plan fool. (chinese accent)

I think it depends on tire and rim brand, not all are the same althoug the numbers are.

I run 18x8.5" +38 215/35-18 up front and it rubs.
