Just got my Colt 1911 Series 80 back from the gun smith. Had It fully Tephlon Coated OD Green and Black. Also had a Wilson Combat Barrel put in and new Novak Night Sights and some other goodies.

What do you guys think?

Looks nice. I'm starting to acquire handguns and will probably be looking at a 1911 in the future.

we talking cars or guns? I don't recall a 1991 pistol lol

On a side note, that looks REALLY sharp. What's the damage in getting that done? What's the combat barrel do? Wow, now that I look at it in more detail, you had ALOT of small details done to it from it's original silver. I like that trigger.

LoL, de nada.

Colt 1911 has always been a handgun I wanted to own. They're on the upper end in pricing when I was first shopping and I didn't want to buy a cheaper knock off of the real colt deal when I wanted the original. I ended up with a glock.... it's ok. I still rather have a Colt 1911.

It's weird because the 1911 is exactly like the NSX. It's timeless. Everyone and their brothers have copied the 1911 design. That itself should tell you something. I've seen a few guns Wilson has went through and refurbished. Fantastic work.

The Tephlon coating was like 200
Barrel was 180
Sights were 100
plus labor

Total was like 620

The barrel helps to group your shots tighter at farther ranges. This barrel has 2 inch groups at 35 yards.

I had the other stuff done earlier. Like the Longer guide rod, Beaver Tail, Hammer, trigger with trigger job (3 pounds), extended saftey and slide release.

Great looking gun! A lot of 1911 purists don't like the two-tone finish (or, for that matter, the full length guide rod.) However, I think you have great taste. I have a Springfield Loaded 1911 that has treated me very well. No FTF or FTE that were not directly related to the magazine. It is far more accurate than I am, which unfortunately isn't saying much.

Koolaid: Colt actually did make a variation of the 1911 called the 1991. It is basically an entry-level 1911 of the Colt line that included a few more plastic parts. But from what I've heard it is still a great gun. Also, don't be so quick to discount the 1911 clones. A Les Baer or Ed Brown would be a VERY nice alternative to a Colt.

I personally would put the Pachmyers back on, but it looks good.

The new finish looks great! I agree that I would go with the Pachhyer grips though. I have them on my Browning High Power and love them! I think they look great too!

Kinda partial to the older version though the two-tone looks good as well. Guess I'm a sucker for stainless. Either way, as long as your happy with it. I bet it shoots great.

My plan is to buy a Kimber TLII after an M4 which is after I finish building my M1 - by the end of year. I have a feeling that a Democratic Pres and Congress aren't going to be friends of current firearm legislation.
