2 sets of rear and 1 set of front tires

Since the rear tires wear out much quicker than the front, has anyone ever purchased 2 sets of rear and 1 set of front tires at the same time. Hence, when the rear tires need replacing, you will still have a matching set. I am thinking about doing this the next time I get new tires. Any thoughts?

Not really a bad idea. I do remember several years back when i bought a set of tires and wore the rears down. When i went to reorder some more, they had been discontinued and I had to buy the newer version which in no way looked like the fronts.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The tire may be discountinued when I need to replace just the rear tires.

Depends on how old the second rear set will be when they get mounted. Not a bad idea, actually.
