Hi gang,

I read elsewhere in here that the 2000 model run for NSXs is over! WOW! That didn't take long. Can anyone confirm how many this year were made and a break down of what colors?

I heard that the total production run this year as only 168 cars, with only 10 being yellow like mine? Can anyone confirm?

Hey G-Man, just found out that the black/black NSX-T currently in Pasadena's showroom is model number 231! So it's more likely that Acura did produce 250 2000 NSXs as was initially planned (according to my dealer).

Okay, now here's an interesting question. The VIN number reflects the production number of the NSX, right? Well, is that number sequential within the U.S. or does it include all NSXs produced? The reason I ask is that I was reading a press release titled "American Honda Shatters All-Time Sales Mark" and noticed that only 176 NSXs have sold year-to-date (through August of 2000). Knowing that the black/black NSX-T in Pasadena was #231, does that mean there are currently 55 NSXs sitting on the showroom floors of Acura dealers across the U.S.?

Here are some interesting numbers:

In both 1999 and 2000, 19 NSXs sold during the month of August.

Year-to-date August 1999, 168 NSXs were sold

Year-to-date August 2000, 176 NSXs were sold (an increase of 4.3%)

Within the US only.

That sounds reasonable.

Pasadena now has '00 NSX-T #244 on its showroom floor! And it's another red one...

Just read a press release that Amrerican Honda sales are going strong...topping 1 million for model year 2000...a first!

Of note to us NSXers, 21 were sold in September (compared to 17 last September, a 23.5% increase). 197 y2k NSXs have been sold year-to-date (compared to 185 through September 1999, a 6% improvement).

I wonder how many of us bought our y2k ones out of fear of Honda would no longer make the NSX as we currently know it.

The latest press release from American Honda states that 213 NSXs have sold year-to-date through November, 2000 (as compared to 211 through November, 1999). That means there are probably a lot of 2000 model year NSXs still unsold (by last count of vin nums there would be more than 50).

A report someone e-mailed me from NSX Fiesta in Japan said that US-bound serial number 000286 was in production at the Tochigi factory just a couple weeks ago.

Akira3D,
Where do you get those updated figures for sales of NSXs? From the last two posts, there seems to be just over 70 2000 NSXs unsold. I can't seem to locate a red/tan NSX-T in California so I'm waiting patiently for a 2001 model. I've decided to get a targa since most people, from the responses I received from my post, would get one over the coupe if they lived in Southern California. Besides, I had a coupe before and I guess I should try something different. Does anyone know of a new red/tan 2000 NSX sitting in any dealerships right now?

Any dealership should be able to look that up for you and do a search by state or nationwide.

CChung, still looking for that red/tan one, eh?

I find the press releases for American Honda sales at http://www.vtec.net/news/ . Temple of VTEC is one of the sites I frequent.
