Hey guys I was curious if they still made 'our' NSX in 2005, so I peeked on acura.com and saw this :

"The 2005 Acura NSX is more than superb engineering. It gives you a higher sense of belonging. An enlightened sense of being. A G-force experience so powerful, it transports you to another space and time. As you rev the engine toward 7100 rpm in your highly nimble existence, you know that in the 2005 NSX, you're in for an extraordinary journey. Wherever that may be."

Whats up with that???

The Peak 290Hp come in @ 7100 but red line is still 8000
see Acura link, NSX Specs: http://www.acura.com/models/nsx_specs_results.asp

Maybe they reved the engine in neutral gear. There the redline is indeed at about 7000 rpm (at least in my '98 car). And of course when the engine is too cold or too hot the ECU sets the limit lower than 8000 in any gear.
