2022 NSX Type S Registry

The same thing happened with the very first 2017 NSX we delivered. Customer bought under their LLC, car was on the market 2 days later for $50k over MSRP. That guy ultimately got burned on that car if my memory serves me right. I'm sure this is only the first of a handful we will see this happening with for the Type-S
That's really disappointing. Some hopeful enthusiast lost an opportunity at a allocation because some D-bag wanted to make a quick buck. I totally get why Ferrari tries so hard to prevent this behavior. I feel bad for those who would have bought one and enjoyed it.
100% flip and honestly 250k is cheap for the Type S imo. They must have needed the money for child support or something.

Fortunately we know both of the customers that bought ours. Most of the people that inquired at our store are previous NSX buyers or have had their cars serviced here. Only recently have I received calls from strangers.

It looks like the dealer selling it, GAS specializes in consignment
Look, its a free country, the original buyer got an allocation and took delivery via their LLC (don't knock LLCs, I have 3 of them).
Then brought the car over to these folks at GAS, consigned it to them and flip completed.
If the LLC owner just bought it for the flip good for him or her, so many dealers and car companies hose their customers, nice to see the consumer pick up a few points here and there.
At the end of the day it will go to someone who wants it and was willing to grease the wheels so to speak.
OK, we know it stinks for the folks who were not able to get an allocation.
In life having a plan B is a good thing, no Type S, get a used regular one, or pick your favorite other car and go have fun with it.

Well said. I almost didn't get the Type S. Initially I was pissed but ultimately would have just bought a low mileage 2021 or whatever. I felt that I "deserved" the car and would never sell it but at the end of the day, some things are just out of our control. Luckily it all worked out and I'm loving the Type S.
I'm still in the "peeking in the garage" phase to make sure it's not a dream, lol.
This is the most open minded and reasonable post I have read, true word of wisdom. It also offer those who genuinely want to appreciate and enjoy the car a second chance.
Since allocation process didn't pre-qualify anyone with current or past NC1 ownership. Once the car is flipped, it go from flipper into enthusiast IMO, in a way this did Honda a huge favor by filtering out flippers and getting cars into enthusiast.
I didn't get an allocation despite massive amount of effort and run around. I was quite bitter and angry about it for a few weeks last year. Almost gave up and pick up a F8 Tributo to use as daily. Past 9 days I saw 4 NSX Type S for sale, 2 of 4 I am not going to mention as they are from private party, people just need to ask if owner is selling, you be surprised. People want privacy and doesn't want to get flamed for flipping it.
My guess is many more will pop up as more gets delivered. If one truly wanted one, with patience they will have one. Like you said, plan B is not bad either, NC1 is a great car, once someone makes similar good looking front end, the demand for preowned NC1 is going to sky rocket. Price depend on macro condition if economy is heading into hard landing or not.
My guess is around 1/3rd of total production will eventually change hand, not a bad thing for people who didn't get one. That is called second chance. After being told my standing on waitlist have zero chance. I was able to get an allocation by working around it. Honda doesn't allow allocation holder to transfer allocation "BEFORE" taking delivery in their name. Allocation will be lost if someone try to do that.
I was able buy a confirmed allocation from someone I know well over the years at set mark up amount with deposit up front and have binding contract signed by both parties. Allocation holder will take delivery under their name, then transfer over.

Can't really blame Honda as they had no prior experience with something like this.
Same exact issue with GT3, GT4RS, C8 Z06, and many other cars. As far as Ferrari goes, their game is not much better. One not only have to focus on brand and become friend of the brand, they also need to be loyal to their dealership.
Relationship + additional car purchase with mark up, then maybe can get one at MSRP. A few year ago my my close friend had to purchase one normal 488GTB at $100k mark up over MSRP to earn right to one Pista allocation at MSRP. It was exactly what he did to get allocation. He then sold the 488GTB pre covid before price gone up at near $200k loss in less than a year. To make the matter worse he also sold the Pista mid 2020 at $150k lower than current market price.
It is very hard to get anything in demand at MSRP without a really good prior relationship with dealer. Tesla on other hand is pretty good at dealing with this issue since no dealers involved.

There are two Types-S deliveries here locally we are aware of and both should be coming over to our shop for CF upgrades!
We recently bought a Type-S as well so should be receiving ours next week and will post pictures when we take delivery and also post a Youtube video.

I was just informed that my car will be the 13th one built in Oct. Approximately how long does production take and how long does it take to ship to the dealer (MD)?

Well, I've been waiting for ours to ship. It was produced mid-sept, but is in a holding pattern. Once it's on the truck, it's generally about a week depending on how far you are from PMC and how many stops the truck has to make.
Ours will be close.. like Irish twins....how did you spec it? I'll look for it when I'm there If you are not going.

Yellow with black interior. ELS without XM. Black wheels. I didn't get the full carbon interior or ceramic brakes.

Our first one was delayed due to lack of car covers, so who knows what it is this time.

Yes, John is the perfect person for the factory tour.
I'm still bitter that we, as NSX Specialists, never got the tour despite driving past PMC after our track day.
First of all, I agree. I think, in hindsight, we can all agree Acura made a lot of mistakes in the rollout of the NC1. This was one of them!
But if you still want to take a PMC tour before the NC1 line is shut down, let me know. I can't promise anything, but will do my absolute best to get you a tour if you really want one.
