$2200 for a used 5spd tranny w/ short gears -only 800 miles?

While my car is in the shop getting the 90k, timing belt / water pump, and dali clutch and flywheel, they were going to take apart the tranny to see how many synchro packs they'd have to replace...

if they have to replace them all, then it would be around $1500 just to repair the tranny to get it back to stock specs... now i could pay $2200 and have a slightly used 5spd tranny with the short gears and brand new synchros - in addition to the labor to put the clutch in... so i guess in the long run, it'd be better to just go ahead and get the short gear tranny right?

If you are at all interested in getting the short gears, this is definitely the time to do it!

You may be able to sell your old tranny core to someone as well which could bring the cost closer to even (depending on the condition).
