I am thinking of putting these size tires on 17 x 8 fronts and 17 x 9 rears, respectively. Just want to get a bigger contact patch for track events from the stock 215/45/16 and 245/40/17. These will be street tires by the way.

Will this be ok with respect to speedometer/odometer calibrations and traction control?

I was going to go with 235s up front but I read Ken's comment that it would rub the wheel well. Thanks.

I suggest that you listen to Ken and don't go any bigger that 215 up front.

245x40x17 is popular due to availability of a varity of track tires. It does rub at full lock, depending upon how lowered the car is. We gained extra room by removing the fender liner (which you may not want to do as it can lead to rock dings from the underside). That said you then can gain extra room on the rear surface by pounding out the welded seem.

Also shaving to 4/32s eliminated much of the rub.

You mean a different shape contact patch. The size of the contact patch is determined only by the weight of the car and the air pressure in the tires.

Speedometer/odometer readings come from the drive (rear) axle. Because the rear size is 3.8 percent larger in outer diameter than stock, your speedometer and odometer will read 3.8 percent lower than actual.

Traction control will still work (the front tires are 5.7 percent larger than stock  ). However, I wouldn't recommend these sizes. In addition to the speedo/odo error, the front tires will rub like the dickens. For your size wheels, the stock '02-03 sizes would work great - 215/40-17 front, and 255/40-17 rear. In those sizes, you can even get the sticky stock tires for those years, the Bridgestone Potenza RE040 that is designed for each corner of the NSX. These tires are really a nice choice for a great-handling street tire that you can also take to the track.

225/45-17 will rub substantially, even on a street car, unless the liner is removed and wheels offsets are 40mm or less. Its just too large a diameter.
