I understand 242 2005 NSX's were manufactured. Is this correct?

I also heard that 50% (141) of them remained in Japan.

Any truth to the above or is this just someone's imagination?

Thanks!

Mmm, the numbers are off.

The link provided is for US production. The NSX Wiki is a good resource.
Correct. 248 NSXs of the 2005 model year were sold in the United States.

As for other markets, Honda was displaying sales by model and market, by calendar year (NOT by model year) up to around 2005 on their media website but stopped doing so around that year. Numbers in years right before 2005 were pretty small, though; for example, in Japan they sold 81 in 2003 and 39 in 2004; in Canada they sold 2 in 2003 and 6 in 2004; etc. A reasonable guess is that they sold fewer than 100 NSXs worldwide in 2005 outside of the United States, and only a handful after the end of 2005. In the United States, they sold 58 in 2006 and 2 in 2007, all of which were from model year 2005 or earlier.

Also note that in some markets (including much of Europe), a car's model year is defined by when it was first titled, rather than by its designation at the factory.

Awesome info. So it would be reasonable to say that about 350 2005's were sold in the US?

cool figures to know good to know that the last year of the nsx was such low in production ..for sure as time increases the prices of these 05 should hold their value very well or even go up in value...

i think in all of canada they must of sold like 10 na2 nsx in that time from 2002- 2005 definitely alot rarer here in canada

A good reference I use for value on the NSX is the production of the Toyota MR2. Look at the 91-93, then the 1994 and 1995 years before production stopped. The 1994-1995 is VERY desirable and really holds the value, as the 1991-1993 are a dime a dozen. Of course, I'm referring specifically to the MKII models, which came after the 1985-1989 MKI model (1990 was skipped).

It's hard to say exactly how many, but there weren't a lot. In Canada they sold 3 NSXs in calendar 2002, 2 in calendar 2003, 6 in calendar 2004, and an unknown number in calendar 2005 and later. Some of them could have been left over from earlier model years before 2002. And some of them could have had automatic transmissions, which were NA1 models, not NA2.

"Correct. 248 NSXs of the 2005 model year were sold in the United States."

this number does not include Japan, AU, Canada, UK, Russia, China, Africa, etc.etc.etc

8000 or so total from 1990-2005

so how many have been wrecked world wide? how many stripped and sold for parts.stolen, burned, crushed

I would say total NSX's in the world are about 4500

and less and less every year

so never sell guys Keep'em

There's no way of knowing, but probably not that many, given that there's very little parts market, and the cars are usually worth fixing if the damage isn't huge. I'd guess that somewhere around 80 percent of the 18,000 or so NSXs originally produced are still out there somewhere.

I read an article a while ago in a Japanese paper that talked about NSX production. It said: Japanese productions of NSX worldwide was 18,896 vehicles. Yet they keep 7,353 vehicles in the country. Production lines ended in June 2005.

That's about right...the U.S. was its largest market however new NSX's were sold in Canada, Australia, Japan, Europe etc...

I have taken a photo of a reference from RouteKS stated Total NSX Production Numbers to be around 18,900 units with details of approximately how many were shipped to each continent.

Mr. Kawai, the owner, confirmed Production Lines ended in December 2005. The final productions were so-called the "Oct-Dec 2005" batch.

Hey

yeah i figured it was some really really low sales number near the end of the nsx's life cycle here in Canada...just proves that this car is so rare in these neck of the woods lol...but yeah definitely a rarity to see an nsx in Canada

Well, it's a rarity to see them in the States, too. Over the years, they've sold 700 NSXs in Canada, which isn't all that much lower on a per capita basis for a country that has only about 10 percent as many people as the United States. I bet it's similar to the northern part of the U.S., and just somewhat less than in our Sunbelt.
