275s or 285s for 18x10's

I have gone back and forth a number of times on this decision. I have Volk GT-Cs on order, with the rears being 18x10s. The tire I am going with is the S03, however can't make a final decision on the tread width. Do I go with the 285 and sacrifice a bit of sidewall to gain a extra width?....... or do I go with the 275 and sacrifice a bit of width and gain sidewall that may help a bit in cornering?

TCS stuff will not be an issue, as it will disabled when my standalone is installed. My primary goal is maximum traction on the street, with a little track use thrown in here and there. There will be a lot of torque and hp put through these shoes, thus my concern for maximum traction.

Sig is your car lowered? I had the 18x10.5 SSR GT3s on my car for a minute, with 285/35/18's and it was fine. Though the extra .5 inch would let the tire be at a wider point then you 10s would, there was still plenty of room left in the wheel well for a taller tire.
My rear is lowered about an inch. I now have the 285/30/19 tires on 19s and it looks fine as far as width goes. No rubbing issues would seem to be the case as well. However, I have not driven the car yet.

I have the same Rim coming this week and I am staying with 265-35-18s for the rear. Had this size in my last Rim and had no probs what so ever.

As I mentioned, traction on the street is my prime concern not the look. Think 500hp for the power range that will be put through them. I am having a hard time thinking 265's will be enough rubber on the 10inch wide rim.

As a sidenote, I will most likely buy 2 more rear GT-C's and mount them with a track compound tire for the few times I will make it to a track.

So street driving is really the focus for the S0-3's.

Yep, the 265's will have a slightly stretched look on a 10 inch wide rim. Given that it looks almost perfect on a 9" or 9.5" wide rims.

I've used both 265 and 275's for the rears of my 9.5" wide rims, the 275 will give you slightly more grip on the rears, however they are slightly heavier too. (But that's not a concern for you given your HP numbers).

Thanks for the input. That's why I was considering the 285s or the 275's. I had not even considered 265's to be honest, but they were mentioned a couple times here.

And the 265's don't look too stretched?

They are getting mounted as we speak I will post a pic later today.

That doesn't look bad at all, but I suspect I will opt for 275's for a bit more traction for the street. Now, go throw those puppies on that black car and take some pics so I can see what the GTC's will look like on my car. I just ordered some myslef. :D

I plan on it I have to wait for the centering rings should see them Friday then I can get some good ones. Here is one dropped down and waiting to ride.

Steve,

FYI, I don't run any hub-centric rings on *any* of my wheels
on my NSX, and everything is ok, no shuddering or balance
issues.

As long as you have the right lug nuts and the right pattern
for tightening the nuts, the wheel should remain centered
correctly.

Looks very nice. That's what I like; Good looking wheels that compliment the NSX, but don't overpower it. Steven, refresh my memory. Your suspension, is it stock height, lower, or what?

My word those front rotors look huge in contrast to the rears.

Gene,
I have Eibachs and Konis I think it looks higher because I just backed it out off of the lift I will get better pics this weekend.

Thanks Ken,
I was wondering if I should take it out or not without the centering rings but I decided to wait until I got them... That's good to know.

I've heard enough horror stories about wheels with the wrong center bore where no hubcentric rings were used that I would never use a wheel without them.

I've spoken with the experts at the Tire Rack and they confirmed this...

I second the above post if ,If the center bore of the wheel dos'nt match the nsx bore, get rings that make up the difference.
