285/30/18!!!

hi run this for 3 years on my 350z wit no prob !! 285 on a 9.5 fit ok !!

I can tell you from experience with the NSX that I noticed a decrease in performance with 285 and a 275 on a 10" rim and they did rub with a +40 offset. My current Volks are +40 9.5" so I run 265/35/18 and it feels great with no rubbing.

I have 285/30/19 on 19x.9.5 w/40 offset. No problems, no rubbing. I've used it on various levels of lowering from -1.5 to -.875

I've used it in hard driving, but no track time.

If it means anything, you're better off running the BEST rubber you can afford in a skinnier size than a cheaper tire in a wider size.

I had 285/30-18 on a 18x9.5 and it fit no problem due to the small sidewall height. But the sidewall is very small despite the 285 width. Their was no rubbing issues but when I replaced the tire, I went narrower with a bigger sidewall.

I do have a brand new never mounted Falken 452 in that size that ill sell for cheap!

I had 285-30-18's on Zanardi springs (approx 3/4" lower) and 9.5" wheels. No rubbing however went back to 275's. Car was not as balanced on the track (although I do not spend much time off-road) and if you get on Tirerack you well see for applications that have both 275's and 285's, the 285's tend to be way heavier then 275's generally which adds a few lbs of rotating mass to each corner. Lastly (and I do not know what offsets I have on my wheels) but the 285's stuck out just slightly while the 275's seem tight to the body.

Exactly, the small sidewall is the reason "squeezing" 285's on a 9.5 allows it to work well actually. We did this on a 300zx street car(with TE37's) with good hp/great suspension work that we ran at Brainerd road course many times with this setup.. worked flawlessly.
