some of my mini-truck buddies have done this and it does come out somewhat nice. If your lookin for a show finish it is def. far from it but if you had a beater car and just wanted to make it look a little nicer, then this would be easy remedy. However, they say its very time consuming and can be frustrating if it doesnt come out right after 3 or 4 coats.

Popular with many of the spec miata guys, especially the ones that make it all the way to run-offs. Results do vary on skill. The leading alternatives often being a rattle can or Macco. Like the one member mentioned, it screams stay away, as the last thing you'll ever want is to be trading paint with race guys sporting show quality paint jobs or expensive parts.

My 2002 Honda 954RR sportbike has a $100 spray paint job. The previous owner meticulously painted it flat black, sanding, clear coating, etc. as needed. It's almost 2 years old and I wouldn't trade it for anything else.

I wouldn't advise doing that on anything you don't consider a toy or wish to maintain the value of.

A guy in Austin painted his E36 M3 that way about 1.5 years ago, it looks factory white.
