has anybody on here had a 6 speed tranny fitted to a pre 97 NSX.
i need a new 'box (mine is in snap ring + third gear syncro has gone) and i am interested in getting a new one from SWR.
the problem is the NSX dealership that is supposed to do the work won't take it on because it is not the standard 'box for the car,and people who know what they are doing when it comes to an NSX in the uk are rarer then chickens teeth.
how much work is involved? a friend of mine who works on vans, lorrys landrover's etc seems to think that it couldn't be THAT difficult.
any and all help on this matter would be really appreciated

That is one of the funniest things I've read. To address your question, the conversion has been done numerous times and the topic should come up in a search.

so am i right in assuming that if they(the dealership) can do a 6 speed swap in a post 97 car then it should be exactly the same in a pre 97 car?
what is involved in attaching the lock out unit?is it the same as it would be in a 97+
thanks

The Reverse Lock-out Selonoid is part of the trans and will come with it. You will need to hook up the electrical connections to the Reverse Lock-out electronics gizmo, that will need to be purchased also.

The RLS will monitor the vehicle speed and not allow reverse after a certain forward speed(I go not recall the exact spec), so you will need to hook up to some inputs on the ECU (Speed Sensor, etc) and the lockout selonoid will need to be wired. The other thing is the clutch. You will have to change it to a single disk compatible version of change the mainshaft as stated in the other thread referenced above. Since you are getting a new trans I think changing the clutch would be in order:).

I did notice that SWR sells the Comptech RLS setup. This may make this a little easier of the connectors and harnesses are pre-made:).

We currently offer the Comptech kit as part of our 6 speed conversion solution.
