First, my car has 60K, i was thinking of getting a 60K miles sevice and the timing belt/water pump changed. Do you think this is a good idea to get done and how much should it cost?

Got an estimate for a 60K service, which included: timing belt, water pump, plugs wires, inspec: ign system, fuel system, belts hoses, and a brake system check up.

Price including labor $1350.

What do you guys think? Should i get it now and is the price good?

Thanks

I think it's reasonable to do the service items you mentioned at this point. However you should replace ALL belts when the timing belt is done, not just inspect the others. The extra cost is minimal if done while the timing belt is being changed but very high if done separately.

The 60k service is pretty involved. Are you doing the full 60k service which includes replace fuel filter and hoses, air cleaner, transmission oil, brake fluid (regular and ABS) and ABS high pressure hose plus all the specified 60k inspections?

If you get all that for $1350 you're getting a very good price. Get it in writing.

2 years ago I had a 60K service done to my vehicle even though it had 29K on the odometer. I had owned it for 6 years up to that point and figured time wise it was good to do. My cost at Acura of Pleasanton was appoximately $900. That also included changing all of the belts and hoses as well.

Will check on the rest of the stuff. I do have what i mentioned on a written estimate though. Any thing else i should have checked out or replaced?

That is a great price, either that or I was ripped off. I went to a local dealer in San Jose and for my 60k, timing belt and water pump, they charged me $2200. I thought this was outrageous, but it was better than other places and it was "the dealer". They also gave me an Integra to put around in for the two days they had my car. Seems like you are getting a pretty good price.

I guess I left out the fact that at the same time Acura of Pleasanton was also installing Comptech headers, exaust, airbox, lowered springs and Koni struts so with all that additional work, I think they gave me a little bit of a break.

It is 90K miles but it is also 6 years. It is probably the original and since my car is a 92 then i rather be safe then sorry.
