Hey fellow NSX'ers,
just wondering if anyone could give me round about prices where they live. I called Springfield Acura in MO. where I'm shipping my NSX to, but its in need of a service(90k to be exact)

THEY QUOTED ME $2,187

does that sound right?

thats:

valve job
oil change
tranny flush
brake flush
water pump
fuel filter...or was it fuel pump?...cant remember
new timing belt
and all other new exterior drive belts
alignment

Thanks for everyone's input

All that stuff together almost sounds right, but do you need a new timing belt? My car had it changed at 68k and I have almost 86k now and will not being changing at 90k...also don't you flush your own anti-freeze every year or so? if so skip that too...the 90k service can be a rippoff if you don't need all the service included... now the valve adjustment may be something you need...check your records and then pick and choose what you need...thks Brent

Here is what was done at my 90K service which was completed at Leith Acura in Cary

Replaced transmission fluid, brake fluid, abs fluid, clutch fluid, plugs, valve cover gaskets, fuel injection service, throttle body cleaning, valve adjustment, 4-wheel alignment, mounted & balanced 2 rear tires,
(Note: Coolant color is now blue, green has been discontinued.)
Total $1068

Mine didn't include the water pump & timing belt as this had already been done in '03.

Yes, that's a reasonable price. And looks like the right service. One more thing - I would suggest you also ask them to replace the cooling system hoses - at least the five big ones, if not all 22 of them.

When was the timing belt changed before? If it's never been changed, then do it. If it has already been changed within the past six years, don't do it.

The coolant flush should be done, as part of replacing the water pump.

with the basic mechanic skills...you could probably cut down the cost a little by doing:

oil change
tranny flush
brake flush
fuel filter

the majority of that is timing belt and water pump, that seems like a reasonable price. make sure those haven't been done already as mentioned. if they have, you can save yourself close to a couple grand.

More specifically, here are typical prices for the services you list:

- Timing belt/water pump - $1200-1400
- Alignment - $100-200
- 30K/60K/etc service (which includes the other items listed) - $700-1000

Add them up, and you can see that $2,187 is a fair price - slightly less than the total of the midpoints of these ranges.

Replacing the cooling system hoses will add $200-400 to the total, depending on how many they replace. Definitely worth doing, and there are some savings in doing it at the same time as the water pump...

I just checked into this for my 95 with 29K on it last week. The Acura dealer initially quoted me $1,500 for the timing belt / water pump / 2 drive belts. I balked since I did my 92 there for about $1,150 as part of a package deal less than two years ago. They agreed to do it for $1,250. The parts are about $420 list (excluding the new timing belt cover since the old one can be re-used with a 10 minute mod) and the book labor if I remember correctly is something like 11-13 hours. The book price for the 30K service that covers what you listed was over $1,100. Therefore, This sounds reasonable and a pretty decent price to me.

I'm struggling with the age old question - should I replace the timing belt / water pump due to the age (over 6 years old) or the mileage (less than 30K). When I did my 92 at 48K miles, the timing belt looked brand new. I inspected it and it looked fine. It will give me peace of mind but I think it can be deferred for some additional time. This is a hotly debated topic.

The timing belt/water pump was changed out in Springfield before I took rcpt of my car. It was part of the deal I made.
My car had 31k miles, full records, but no rcpt of this service.
The PPI was done by the Acura dealership, but the work was done by another exotic shop in town for less money.
I will have to look at my record book when I get home.
I believe the cost was around $800 or so.
Let me know if you are interested in an alternative shop.

Just got my 60K service done (last week) and I'd say you are getting a fair price.

I didnt realize you can feel and hear the difference after the service. My valves are now singing in harmony and I had forgotten how smooth the engine revv's towards redline simply after a valve adjustment

Gotta love the synthetic stuff as my tranny seems to shift easier and smoother

if it was a BMW dealer and you tried to get all that done it would be twice as much.
