Note: This is for 95-96 OBD I with fly by wire

Well the seals on my Novi 2000 just blew and is blowing oil throughout my s/c, intercooler and throttle. Fortunatly, the blower also carries a 3yr warranty and Mark has told me that he's has only had 5 blowers that have come back with broken seals (i must be the unlucky 6th one!)

During this time of downtime I've decided to attempt with the help of Elite Autosports, this (apparently simple) task in order to run an AEM with BBSC on 95/96 fly by wire cars. I've heard that all i have to do is purchase the throttle body, cables and brackets in order to make this work.

Not sure how many people have done this but if anyone can add any input to part #s and hints, that would be great. I plan on doumenting the process on this thread.

First, I've managed to find a 94 throttle body for my 95 off the forsale thread, since it is off the car, i may as well pick up a SOS Big Bore throttle body

I'll be heading up to the dealer today or monday to try and get spec sheets on the whole throttle cable assembly.

In the mean time any help or suggestions would be great!

Thanks
Kevin

Would discuss with Gerry Johnson since he did another car recently. Tim

ok so far I have obtained the following parts ....

OBD I Throttle Body .... $150 in for sale section
OBD I Intake manifold .... No cost Thanks Mark Basch
OBD I Wiring harness .... $150 Thanks TitaniumDave

I still need the entire pedal assembly.
Does anyone know what this involves? Looking through the service manual, it almost looks as thought the throttle cable is 2 parts,
How many brackets are involved?
Where does the cable enter the car? and whereabouts does it go through to get to the pedal?
How many pieces are involved in the Pedal assembly?

Sorry for all the questions, I haven't seen the assembly in person yet

It would be great if I can find a salvaged car somewhere that I can obtain all these parts from. Any resources?

If this can be done, this is the only way I will SC my NSX....the AEM stand alone is the best way to make safer power. One question, what OBD I wiring harness are you looking for....our 95 is completely different than the 94?

Yes, the 91-94 harness is different, I'm not sure exactly what is different (assuming fly by wire connections are gone) but I'm sure experts can chime in. Devin @ AEM did it last year sometime but he converted the OBD II wiring harness, to quote him... he said he would never do one ever again!

Do a search on prime under OBD I conversion

I am not positive on the 95 specific wiring going from the ECU to the chassis / engine harness. Being that your 95 would not include the OBDII features like my swap, the wiring might be (and probably is) significantly different - hopefully easier.

On my 97, the wiring conversion included dozens and dozens of repining at the connector plugs going from the engine harness to the chassis (the other connectors not associated with the ECU specifically). The engine harness ECU plugs obviously plug right in to the EMS.

The throttle cable comes through the firewall on the passenger side of the car near the fuel filter. It is routed through the passenger compartment behind the right seat and then along the driver’s side of the tunnel down to the pedal assembly. We removed the carpet, armrest, and both seats to do this.

Kevin – get my number from Mo and give me a call if you guys have any questions.

BTW - I would consider calling Mark Basch. He is a walking dictionary regarding all of the model years and can tell you what differences you are going to run into between you swap and mine.

So are you saying the 95-96's are OBD I with Fly-by-wire? for some reason i thought they were OBD II's. In anycase, I managed to pick up a used engine harness, so hopefully its all going to be plug-n-play!

I was just thinking about this last night and I think I can just look at Mo's car to trace down what brackets and cables i need .... know of any good sources for used parts?

I got it already but thanks again for the offer, we will prob be calling you once I get my motor back

Mark's already provided some insight to this as well as gerry which i appreciate very much, Mark also supplied the intake manifold for my car as he did with yours, nice guy!
