Although no one will probably get anything usable out of this info, maybe it's just for me to vent a little.

In referring to thread

I had what appear to be a clutch issue.

I have to go back to the original purchase of the car to explain the reasons why I did what I did.

Being this is the last NSX, I knew I wanted to preserve some of the original parts like the yellow carpet(I would have never been able to keep clean) a new center console(so I could mount something different), A second set of OEM wheels so I could chrome the first set. So all of these extras were purchased at time of sale so I could change things, without REALLY changing things.

The dealership sent wheels out for chroming(@ over $700 per wheel) and they came back pretty bad. The plastic center caps came back peeling chrome plating, they replaced the yellow carpet with black, leaving some of the original yellow parts inside (looked really gay) never did get the center cap issue worked out, the headlight enclosures were scratched in a weird way from the factory on both sides, they dragged their feet ordering and even today, the work is not done. Had some body rubber edging that needed to be pulled out. There were other issues, but I don't want to bore you all with everything. Suffice to say that issues were many, answers were few.

These are the guys I'm going to trust to tell me whether there is a warranty issue with my $130,000 under 5000 mile car? I think not.

Now also having the S2000, I was very aware of the differences between the Honda dealership and the Acura. I TRUST the guys at the Honda place.

So, I had the tranny pulled at Honda. being willing to eat the entire cost should I come up with either nothing, or whatever faced me.

Tranny gets dropped and although I'm not there to actually see it. The dealership tells me the clutch is 3% away from failure and it's wearing on the OPPOSITE SIDE than it should !?!

I'm not Joe Acura, but I've replaced a few clutches in my day... I didn't understand this at all. But the short story of it is. It's a factory defect and it was bad. Really bad.

Honda contacts Acrua and they blow their tops!

They say no coverage. They will not cover anything whatsoever. They won't even send a guy to look, stating "we don't ever do any work off-site from our facility".

WOW.

So in literally 100+ phone calls to Acura Corp. Office, the dealership, Honda dealership, the lawyer. Here's what happend.

I had two invoices from the Acura dealership showing they had indeed come out to the lake house, removed my OEM wheels, sent them off to be chromed and returned to replace them when they came in (So much for we never do work off-site) Atleast when they want it that way.....

Acura Corp and Acura dealership had to eat the disassembly and clutch parts. I had to eat RE-assembly. 650.00

What really pissed off the Acrua dealership was they estimated the job at around 6,500.00... The Honda dealership nailed them for near 8,000.00 So much for brothers not screwing each other.

So as it sits. The headlight issue, not fixed yet.
Yellow parts on the interior, not fixed yet.
Center caps. Nope, not fixed yet.
Service Manager at the Acura dealership, FIRED. For actually doing what he was told to do by the dealership manager (pulling the wheels off-site)
and there's probably two or three more that escape me.

But I was right, the clutch was bad. These idiots would have never been square with me. I had no choice but to bail out to a trusted dealership.

Oh yea, the NSX guy claimed he was certified on NSX cars... He's worked on two. The owners and mine.

Lesson learned.

Just sharing.

I feel your pain. I don't like taking delivery of a car with a "Due Bill" listing items that have to be taken care of at a later date. It seems that after the point of sale, service suffers considerably at a lot of dealerships.

I suppose $650 is worth it to have a good mechanic work on your car. The chrome wheels I would insist on a refund and for $700 a piece you can get some pretty nice aftermarket wheels.

Good Luck and don't settle for less. I would get very familiar with the new Service Manager at Acura. You are going to be dealing with him for a long time.

I hope not. If I were in your position, I would get resolved whatever issues remain with that dealership resolved, and never go near them again. Find a dealership that does a lot of NSX service work, even if it's not the closest dealership to your home. (The two Acura dealerships I use for most of my NSX service work are the 5th and 10th closest, ranked by distance from my home.)
