air filters

OEM. In fact, just changed a few weeks ago.

i got the uni filter as well. the oem one is too quiet for me, but i think the fender scoop makes more of a difference in sound than the filter itself.

Depending on aftermarket filter, does makes a different independent of the AIS

Not sure if this is a question or a statement...

The AIS has never been proven to show any performance gains whatsoever. It does provide a whoosh noise. There's some evidence to show the UNI filter might provide some very minimal gain but the OEM filter is ostensibly "safer" and works very well.

The UNI filter does appear to flow more air and it can make more noise consequently.

For the sound, my uni made a HUGE difference. You know, the "wtf is wrong with my car" sensation you get when you first take it out for a spin, lol.

"Wtf is that sound? A whistle? Oh sh!t, I hope I didn't do something wrong".

I also don't have a snorkel what so ever though. Just airbox to fender well.

 Should have been clearer. Some aftermarket filter does add a different and quite noticeable sound independent of the AIS.

UNI filter

OEM. Most of what I heard about all the other filters is that they are a lot more hassel, potentially detrimental as the oil gets sucked off the filter, privide actually less filtration as they pass more fine particulates. Performance gains are mainley in FI engines. And not osing the airbox only allows hot air to enter the engine, further reducing available power.

I have used K&N OEM replacement filters inthe past but was told that really you shouldn"t do it in the NSX, and again some say in no car except maybe off road or in racing applications but the engines are rebuilt often and the filters changed after every race.

Have been using the UNI-filter for about a year know.

Just cleaned it last week and to be honest, after all the stories that I read, I was expecting a very dirty and/or greasy throttle body. But in fact, apart from a few small spots. there was nothing inside my throttle body at all.

Also, cleaning the UNI-filter turned out to be much less of a messy job than I had anticipated. Had it back in the car in about two hours after cleaning, drying and re-oiling the filter.

If you don't want the hassle, the OEM filter is, of course, just perfect. But so far I'm happy with the UNI-filter. However, I do have the SOS big bore throttle body, so maybe that make a difference.
