I would recommend a 4 post lift for storage, however.

Good brands are Backyard Buddy and Autolifters.

I disagree on the brands. There are many high end companies that sell lifts, and BB and Autolifters aren't at the top of my list. I would look into BendPak or Ranger for example. I wouldn't want to put my NSX on a budget lift that's for sure.

I wouldn't put any car on a budget lift. Especially, if you or another car is going to be under it. JMHO

I wouldn't really consider those 2 "budget" brands. Mid-range, perhaps. They both use steel manufactured in the USA, and assemble the lifts themselves.

- They use a sleeve fitment over the posts ... different from the overseas styles that use a slot inside the post.
- The ramps are steel plate welded to angle channel, not just bent plates.
- Each cable is good for 16,000 lbs (there are 4 cables).

I'm sure the more expensive brands have some good features, but I couldn't justify the price of a Rotary or Ranger, when these 2 lifts appeared well made, in my not-so humble opinion. I'm a Mechanical Engineer, so I feel somewhat qualified to evaulate them in this respect.

Top of the list? No, I agree with that. But if your list stops at $3,500, for instance, they would be very high on it.

I distribute BendPak/Ranger products. They stopped making the 7000 lb lifts because they were being compared to the backyard/homeowner types of lifts. To get away from the apples to apples comparisons (if you want to cal it that), they increased the capacity to 9000 lbs and are still priced in the same ballpart as inferior lifts. I have witnessed BendPak testing their 9000lb lifts with forces of greater than 18000lbs and about that time is when the lifts failed and or began creaking. That is why I chose them for my NSX and began distributing them.
Take care,
John

I was wondering if someone could tell me some info on the bendpak lifts. Are you able to stop them at different heights? Is the a minium height for the celing of your garage?
I was looking at the Hd-9 so I could store two vehicles...My Nsx and an E36 BMW.
Also can these lifts be used to work on the vehicle?Do they have open center panels?
Thanks
