any dangers in taking 2pc wheels apart

You will probably need new seals for when you put them back together again, so you might want to plan ahead and try to get those in advance of your re-assembly.

I would have a wheel place put them back together for you or you may have leaks.

Isn't Blitz Type-03 a 3 piece wheel? Anyway get a proper wheel specialist to do it, different wheel brand I understand have different bolt torque to keep the wheel's pieces together , seen couple of times leaks occurs with poorly reassembled multi-piece wheel

Sorry, yeah they are 3 pc. Is there any other way to change the color of the center? I didnt think about the front and the back of the wheel coming apart. I was thinking I could just unbolt the center and remove it, paint it and put it back in.

If you don't want to disassemble it, then your only option is mask and paint / powder coat. Personally, I'd call the manufacturer, get a torque spec, disassemble them, have the center coated, and then reassemble myself. Seal the interface with silicon and torque them back together using 3 steps and a criss cross pattern to insure proper assembly.

There is a special sealant that is used to seal the wheels. Make sure you use that and nothing else. I would highly recommend that you take it to an experienced wheel shop to have them do the work. You'll pay a little but sleep easy at nights knowing your wheels won't (shouldn't) leak air or worse the bolts won't come lose while driving on the freeway at 100mph, not that you do that right? :)

I believe Blitz wheels are 3 pc but the front and rear lip are welded together. Most JDM will not leave the factory without being welded.

dismount the tire or let out all air pressure.

unbolt all the bolt on the face.

carefully knock it out.

rebolt the face in a cross pattern. about 35 ft lbs torque should be enough. over tightening will damage the wheel.

When I bought my o3's way back I was told by Zen auto(blitz dealler) that they were 2-piece wheels made to look like 3 piece and they don't come apart, meaning the bolts are for show.I was also told that blitz made the center spokes but the lips were enkei  Good luck.

I took my 3 piece rims apart racing hart M5's. They were actually only 2 piece because the manufacturer welded the two halves together. I did the same thing you are trying to do had the centers powder coated. I suggest using an epoxy powder coat if you do do this. Also when you go to put the wheels back together dont use the supplied hardware to fit everything. The supplied bolts are fragile. You usually need to torque the bolts fairly tight to get everything to line up right. The supplied bolts will break. I used a different set of bolts to get everything to line up then used the factory bolts and torqued them to the manufacturers reccommendation.
