Any Experience with Huntington Learning Center, Sylvan or Kumon?

Back in junior high, I had friends who went to Sylvan after school. It helped them immensely...especially with their math skills.

I went to the Huntington learning center as a child, I hated it but it seemed to help me out a bit.

Hey, never heard back from ya, partner.

I went through the Kumon program 20+ years ago before they were widespread and well known. All throughout high school, I sailed through math with flying colors, set curves on exams, and was always at least 2 years ahead of my peers. I went to a pretty competitive high school too. I'd say Kumon had a lot to do with that.

My 7 y.o. son does Kumon math and reading. He has homework every day. They stress heavily on repetition.

His public schooling is a joke. If it wasn't for Kumon, we would've moved to a different school district.

I think it depends on which age/grade the student is.

I also went to Kumon and I think it helped a lot. Around this area, there are a lot of test prep / tutoring centers. Some of my peers at the time went to different private tutoring centers and found them helpful as well. What area are you in?

The whole industry has become competitive, so you'll find some places with real teachers and some others places with students who attend/graduated from prestigious schools.
