Has anyone ever used a product like SEM vinyl dyes to change the color of the vinyl in their NSX?

I have ivory in my car and can't stand it. I already plan to get the seats recovered and would like to just use a black leather that matches the black factory vinyl and then dye the ivory parts of the door panels, headliner etc.

Has anyone ever had any experience with a product like this? Google turned up allot of old car forums with guys mentioning that they have had good luck with a product called SEM but most of the posts were too old to see before and after pictures and opinions on quality vary greatly.

Thoughts, opinions, experiences?

I would not even think of doing something like that. Why don't you just buy a new or used interior. You see them for sale here on Prime from time to time.
BTW, I love my ivory interior.

All the best,

Save hassle and time. Trade up with someone who has the color you're wanting.

Dyeing is quite possibly an experiment and recipe for disaster. Then you're stuck with ugly $hit inside your car.

OR...go rob your piggy bank, and get what you're really wanting. If you were talking about doing this to an 88' Civic or something, I'd say go for it.

It would be like saying you want a new paint job, and trying to do it with a krylon rattle can. It just aint the smart thing in the end.

SEM is a great product for a 82 Ford Escort ..not an NSX ...seriously SEm makes a quality product for trim paint and vinyl dye..just not for what you wanna do

Why would SEM work for a less expensive car and not an NSX?

Does the product not work well or is it just your opinions that it doesn't belong in an NSX?

My opinion is that vinyl doesn't belong in an NSX but since its already there why not change it to a color i like better? (i'm not painting over the Mona Lisa here, its just vinyl)

So my question still is .... DOES THE SEM DYE WORK WELL or NOT?

If it looks spotty or rubs off or something then i would not use it but if it works as advertised then i'm probably going to give it a try.

As far as the value of my high mileage 91 being effected because of the rare ivory interior ..... If anyone has black and wants to trade for my ivory let me know. All the vinyl is in excellent condition but the leather seats are shot.
