Anyone use Forever Black?

Hey Batman....I have tried every single product that allegedly turns black trim back to it's original color. Not a single one of them lasts more than 2 car washes!

Believe it or not, I received the best results using Lemon Pledge furniture polish!

Yes...it eventually washes off.

Most back to black type things are basically the same as tire shine, i.e. it wears off eventually.

The problem is that the black plastics are oxidized, so short of sanding them down to uncover the unoxidized plastic, the blackness will wear off over time.

I have had the best results with 303 Protectant. The tires stay black for about 3-4 weeks, even during some of Long Island's torrential storms. Works great on all my plastic trim too. I don't know how it will stand up to the brilliant Colorado sun though.. we'll see. :)

+1. Depending on how bad it is, what vehicle it's on, etc, I use either a green scotchbrite pad or rubbing compound to remove the oxidation. Once it's off and shiny again, I apply a protectant.

I used Forever Black and it works pretty good.
But here is the trick for black rubber around the glass etc. Or Black Plastic trim.

First, use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to remove the "White Residue" then use Forever Black. (The Mr. Clean is basically a buffing pad. DO NOT USE IT ON PAINT) If you use forever black over the already "Whited" trim it will turn back to what it was.. If you buff off the oxidized white film the Forever Black will work much better.

Magic eraser works well on plastic to remove shoe marks on the plastic sills. (HOWEVER BE GENTLE, DON'T RUB TOO HARD)
Make sure the Magic Eraser is wet. You can buy them cheap at Costco by the case or individually at any supermarket. You burn through them pretty fast.
Good luck.

Members of several automotive detailing sites I belong to swear by a product called, "Valugard ETR System." See the above link to the product.

This is supposed to resolve black bumper and trim fade issues once and for all. It is not a cover-up but a complete restoration system that several people swear by.

Take a look at this Thread on Autopia's website:

http://www.autopia.org/forum/car-de...ssion/135929-restore-plastic-rubber-trim.html

Apparently, Hyundai and Mazda have sent service repair bulletins to their dealerships dictating that the Valugard ETR System is to be used on warranty complaints of dull and faded black trim cladding.

This would be the product I would try if I needed to repair or restore black trim cladding on any of my vehicles!

I've used the Forever Black and it's OK I guess (don't have anything to compare it to). I now use Glade furniiture spray because of its low cost and result

Interesting, might have to give that a try.

I am going to try it when I need to repair black trim on any of my cars. I have done considerable reading about this product and it seems to be a permanent fix to faded trim.

Griot's Garage sells Bumper and Trim Reconditioing Dye that their ad says is permanent. Anyone ever use it?

Nope. But I approve ur usage of it.

So far my Forever Black is holding out in the GTO trim and have taken 4 car washes with a 2000 psi pressure washer.
