I received a promotional letter from ING Direct today regarding establishing a checking account. Should I sign up for an account they kick in an extra $25. No minimum balance, no fees, can transfer from my current checking account to ING and from ING to my origional checking account, etc. Doesn't say anything about fees for transfering back and forth nor anything about timeframes regarding how long a transfer takes.

Any input or experience? Thanks in advance.

I have an ING Direct savings account, and I transfer funds between my B of A checking account & ING savings account online, and vice versa. You just need to verify each account with each other. And keep in mind, it usually takes a few days for the funds to transfer between accounts...

I don't have their checking account, but I have no complaints about their savings account...

I have an ING savings account as well, but moved just about everything out when their interest rates dropped through the floor. I liked them as a bank, I just didn't like their rates.

Citibank has a promotion where you open a checking account and have a minimum of 6K balance in all your accounts (CD included) you can get a $150 gift card after 3 months. I thought it was a pretty good deal, however I'm still waiting for my gift card to arrive.

I have an ING account. If you are looking to cash in a free $25 then go ahead and open an account. It's a decent online bank, very quick and simple. However, if you look around there are other banks out there that offer better interest rates than ING.
