My JL W0 finally blew and its time for a replacement. Anyone using a Kicker 8 inch sub? Not alot of company make an 8 inch sub, so im up for suggestions....

Since you're going from an 10 to an 8 are you getting a new box made? Why not simply replace the JL? Chances are you blew it with an underpowered amp that clipped too often and fried the voicecoil.

Who said I had a 10" before? I had an 8 and it blew. Im very hard on my sound systems and the amp has plenty of power. Its a JL 5 channel that I mounted in the area where the tool kit goes.

I've got a JL 8W6 setting in the garage. I used it for a while but changed to a shallow 10" Earthquake 10-SWS.

The JL speaker worked great for me. Doubt there is a better 8" shallow speaker out there. If interested, send me a PM.

Shaun Ray's 8W6 is a good one. You can probably find a new 8W3V2 which is a very good option as well. Good shallow 8s are pretty tough to come by. What's also important is that you match the subwoofer to the volume of your box, don't just stick any 8" sub in there. If the box was built to match the 8W0 you had, then it should be close to .375 cubic feet. The 8W3v2 D4 or D6 would be a great match for that box and the screwholes would match perfectly. Likewise for the 8W6. The 8W3v2D4 has .39" xmax. The 8W3v2D6 has .42" xmax, you can wire the voice coils on that to 3 ohm and this would be the sub which can move the most air and play the loudest out of all the aforementioned subs.

Im lazy, and just installed the kicker 8'....very impressive. I didnt really bang on the system too loud, but I like it so far! Brand new $60:eek:
